Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey and his International Brothers,Decca 1973

I’m in a good mood today so here’s some juju to round up.
Listening to this album, there’s a couple of passages that make
you think of an early X-mas but other, holy cow,
it’s damn good juju.

1 Odun keresimisi
– Irinse lo jona obey o jona
– Irin ajo
– Ile oba to jo
2 ka so wo po
– Oro ibi pelu iyawo
– Oro oko pelu obi
– Olatunbosun banmeke

  1. I love all of Ebenezer Obey’s work. But these early recordings ( before “International” became “Inter-reformers”) these are the best of the best. Thank you a million Global Groovers!!

  2. A great icon and wonderful musician. I hope that one day you may be able to post his LP of 1972 – Board Members, Decca WAPS 38, 1972. That to me was his best!

  3. Many thanks – lovely stuff, from the Chief Commander at his very considerable peak.

By the way, I’m pretty sure that “Keresimisi” is a phonetic rendition of Christmas.

  4. I first came across your extrodinary blog about 2 weeks ago. the hard work, attention to detail, knowlege, love and passion you put into it ia very much appreciated, you have opened up a new world to me.Thank You
