Hi Moos
do you know the other musicians?
vol 2 looks to have the same musicians and backing vocals as vol. 1; the chorus vocals are present on both covers – the photo at the cover backside of vol 2 is the same as at the front of vol1.
“Toubaka” – the 3 rd song of vol 2 is played a lot by others mande musicians of that time, as Djelimady Tounkara, and El-Hadj-Djeli-Sory-Kouyate, that one in a bala-only version.
Vol 1 has a trumpet in the first song, “Djadjon” any infos about the musician?
A.

Lovely to have this; it’s something of a holy grail, as I have a Gambian street cassette of part of both albums, bought in 1988, but I’ve never heard the whole thing. Now for Volume 1. Many thanks.

Many many thanks for this moos, and sad to hear that shortly after you posted this, Kante Manfila died in Paris … nauma over at freedomblues has posted Tradition (1988) as a tribute, and has a couple other of his albums; I’ll be posting more in comments to his post.
