An obscure and wonderful slice of Colombian candy today.
Gustavo Rey brings us some crazy dancing tunes from the
old days. Not exactly clear from what year they are, the
variety of songs on this record is exciting. What do
the Spanish liner notes say ?

ya empezamos a sentir alegria por las venas, pues este mag-
nifico conjunto especializado en los aires costeños de Colombia
nos deleita con un extraordinario repetorio del cual estamos
seguros que será del agrado de todos ustedes.
Sus integrantes, naturales de Santander, son: Gustavo Rey…
al acordeón; Alfredo Lozano… guacharaca; Jorge Espinosa…
timba, y Alejandro Rey en la caja. Todos reunidos son unos
verdaderos Magos del Ritmo; De allí su nombre por cierto
bien acertado y el cual ustedes mismos pueden comprobar
al escuchar este LP, de Sello Vergara, que será uno de sus
preferidos en todas sus fiestas ..

Good morning, yesterday I was clearly not very much awake
yet. The album we had with Los Matamoros was absolutely
by Miguel Matamoros and Trio Matamoros. Our friend Ian
already suggested it and he’s right. Stupid enough I had posted
this record two years ago which contains exactly the same songs.
I clearly didn’t do my homework properly. One way or the other,
Trio Matamoros was indeed one of the most popular in their era
and made many wonderful songs. Ciro Rodriguez, Rafael Cueto
and Miguel Matamoros had been inseperable for over thirty-five
years. They were the pride of Cuba. Today therefore another
elpee with their sweet music, enjoy listening ..

Goede morgen, ik was gisteren duidelijk nog niet helemaal wak-
ker. De plaat die ik postte met Los Matamoros was absoluut met
miguel Matamoros en zijn Trio. Onze vriend Ian suggereerde dit
al en hij heeft gelijk. Stom genoeg heb ik twee jaar geleden zelf
deze elpee al gepost die dezelfde nummers bevat. Doe toch je
huiswerk wat beter Moos, ehem .. Hoe dan ook, Trio Matamoros
was in de jaren de trots van Cuba en maakte vele mooie nummers.
Vandaag daarom nog zo’n fijn album. Ciro Rodriguez, Rafael Cueto
en Miguel Matamoros waren meer dan 35 jaar onafscheidelijk.

Anibal Velasquez is a Colombian composer and musician with
a career that spans over sixty years. He was the hit of Colombia’s
50’s and 60’s. The album we’ve got for you today is from 1970, 50
years of age and still very hot. Anibal was hospitalized last year
with a severe lung infection, let’s hope he’s doing better
today. Listen and enjoy Anibal’s tremenda salsa ..

This is DCM-407 on the Discomoda label from Medellin, Colombia.
It first appeared in 1967. Tanta Ropa, (so many cloths) seems to be
a joke. The girl on the frontcover was naked at first. In a later sta-
dium they have drawn a little bikini over the picture. Still not en-
tirely comfortable, as if ‘Me Too’ already existed, Discomoda then
re-released the album under the title of the first song, ‘Ambiente
de Guaracha’, with another sleeve. (small pic) Luis Gonzalez, or Lucho,
was the frontman of the group. The record has some background noise,
the salsa however is still quite enjoyable. Get it, spread it and listen ..

Dit is DCM-407 op het Discomoda label uit Medellin, Colombia. De
plaat verscheen oorspronkelijk in 1967. Tanta Ropa (zoveel kleding)
lijkt een spottende titlel te zijn. het meisje op de hoes was oorspronkelijk
naakt maar in een later stadium is er een klein bikini’tje overheen getekend.
Nog niet helemaal comfortabel, alsof ‘Me Too’ reeds bestond, bracht Disco-
moda de plaat opnieuw uit. Nu met de titel van het eerste nummer, ‘Am-
biente de Guaracha’, en met een andere hoes. (zie kleine foto) Luis Gonzales
ofwel ‘Lucho’ was de leider van de band. Het album heeft wat achtergrond
geluid maar de salsa is nog steeds lekker. Down, deel en luister weer ..

Gertrudis Bonilla is here once more with this album of which we
don’t know a year of release. The main style performed is Currulao
but it also contains Son, Guaracha, Folklore and Parranda. Finally we
find some marimba, this will please our blogfriend Alexsam. Sound-
quality could have been better, get and spread anyhow ..

I’ve added a video which contains some fake footage,
you hear trumpet and see clarinet, anyway, nice to see
Gertrudis Bonilla perform ..

Gertrudis Bonilla is hier nogmaals met deze plaat waarvan we helaas
geen jaartal van uitgifte vinden. We horen voornamelijk Currulao maar
ook Son, Guaracha, Folklore en Parranda. Eindelijk eens een paar nummers
met marimba, dit zal blog vriend Alexsam een plezier doen. De geluids kwa-
liteit had beter gekund. Down, deel, luister en beoordeel zelf ..

Ik heb een video toegevoegd waarin enkele fake beelden,
je hoort trompet maar ziet clarinet, toch leuk om Gertrudis
Bonilla te zien zingen ..

Tony Moncada en zijn combo spelen de meest krachtige
Colombiaanse tunes op deze plaat uit 1976. Variërend
van salsa tot paseo en merengue, hangt de sound tussen
vallenato en tropical met de zangers Armando Hernández,
Nacho Paredes en de broers Lenín en Francisco Bueno.
Het album verschijnt op Caliente en dat is de muziek
ook zonder enige wijfel, hot hot Colombian gold ..

to paseo and merengue, the sound varies from vallenato
to tropical with singers Armando Hernández, Nacho Paredes
and the brothers Lenín and Francisco Bueno. This album
appears on Caliente and that cant most certainly be said
about the music, hot hot Colombian gold ..

Gisteren drong het tot me door, in al die tijd heb ik ook maar vijf van
zijn albums gepost. Eigenlijk zes want eentje gaat op naam van ‘Los
Ases del Ritmo’. Die plaat, ‘Costa Brava vol. 1’ staat op nummer tien
in de lijst meest gedownloade albums van de Global Groove. Vandaag,
lieve bezoekers, zal ik je verwennen met een tweede elpee met Los Ases
del Ritmo. De groep bestaat uit Anibal Velasquez en zijn broer José, Ani-
ceto Molina en Gabriel Raymon. Zij brengen pasebol, merengue, guaracha,
goajira, cumbia, chunga, en corrido chiqui-chá. Hoog tijd dus voor meer
Anibal Velasquez, één van de grootste muzikanten die
Colombia ooit heeft voortgebracht ..

Yesterday it became clear to me, in all those years I have only posted five
of his albums. Six to be honest because one goes under the name ‘Los Ases
del Ritmo’. That record, ‘Costa Brava vol. 1’ is on position no. 10 in our list
of most downloaded albums. Today I’ll spoil you a bit more posting another
elpee with Los Ases del Ritmo. The group exists of Anibal Velasquez, his bro-
ther José, Aniceto Molina and Gabriel Raymon. They bring pasebol,merengue,
guaracha, goajira, cumbia, chunga, and corrido chiqui-chá. In short, it is
hightime for some more Anibal Velasquez, one of
Colombia’s greatest musicians ever ..

Weinig Colombiaanse platen gepost de laatste twee maanden.
Daar gaan we weer eens wat aan doen. Om te beginnen heb ik
hier een verzameling Tropical de Colombia en vallenato in ge-
varieerde stijl. Twaalf songs door vier verschillende artiesten.
Prettige verzameling nummers met veel variatie, pompo, pa-
seaito, paseo, guaracha, cumbia, merengue en gaita. Op het
tropical label waarschijnlijk uit de vroege
jaren zeventig. Luister en deel ..

Been posting little Colombian music the past two months, about
time to change the mood a bit in that direction. To start with I
have this cocktail of Tropical de Colombia and vallenato in
various styles. twelve songs by four different artists..Delightful
bunch of songs with lots of variety, pompo, paseaito, paseo,
guaracha, cumbia, merengue and gaita. On the Tropical label,
probably from early seventies, listen and share ..

From Panama we’ve got this oldie with the orchestra of Armando
Boza. Fourteen tracks in guaracha and bolero style. The backsleeve
and label do not agree on the tracklist. I show the sleeve in the post
but stick to the label in naming the tracks. Somehow this seems more
reliable. Shame we didn’t find a year of release on this one. Listening
is the most important anyhow. Get it and spread it ..

Vandaag hebben we deze gouwe ouwe uit Panama met het orkest van
Armando Boza. Veertien nummers in Guaracha en bolero stijl. De hoes
en het label zijn het niet geheel eens over de titels. Ik plaats daarom de
foto van de hoes en houd me aan het label met de titels, dit lijkt me het
meest betrouwbaar. Helaas vinden we nergens het jaar van uitgave van
deze plaat, maar goed, beluisteren is toch het belangrijkst.

Sinds enige tijd maak ik met regelmaat een rijtje van zeven
dagen in één bepaalde stijl of uit één bepaald land, een zo-
genaamde thema week. Het ene thema zal je aanspreken,
het andere misschien wat minder. Ik maak ze in elk geval
met veel plezier. De meeste van onze bezoekers komen
uit de Verenigde Staten en op de tweede plaats uit Colombia.
Qua aantallen downloads wint Colombiaanse muziek het van
alle anderen. Deze week staat daarom eens in het teken van
de Vallenato. We beginnen met Adolfo Echeverria, op deze
plaat met Guest Star Don Abundio, hij doet volgens mij de
heerlijke vokalen op deze elpee. Alleen #5 wordt gezongen
door ‘El Mapurito’.. luister ..

Lately I’ve been making these theme weeks on a regular basis.
Seven days of music in a certain style or from a certain country.
You probably will not like every theme, one is more to your liking
than the other, in any case, I make’m with lots of pleasure. Most
of our visitors are from the USA and in second place come the
people of Colombia. If we look at amounts of downloads, the
music from Colombia is more or less the most wanted. This
week therefore we focus on Vallenato, one of my favourite
styles. We start with Adolfo Echeverria & Don Abundio.
I think the Don does the vocal parts here, part from track #5
which is sung by ‘El Mapurito’.. listen ..

vokalisten op dit album. Crescencio Camacho, July Montero, Johny
Gonzalez en Ñañita Castro nemen om beurten en soms samen de
nummers voor hun rekening. Nummers geschreven door Manuel
Garcia, Ceferino Meléndez, Julio Rodríguez en Rufo Garrido zelf.

Saxofone player Rufo Garrido and his Orchestra present various
