Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey & his Inter Reformers Band -Solution, Stern’s 1984

Ebenezer Obey, front, cd size

From the very first notes, the fast rolling subtle drums and the
more than funky guitars it becomes cristal clear ! This is one hell
of a juju record. Ever since the release of his hit album Eyi Yato
Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey followed this new way and focussed
on a younger public. Recorded in the Afrodisia Studio’s in Lagos,
this 1984 LP on the London Stern’s label stands out for it’s freshness.
A real treat for juju lovers that will surely rock Miami tonight.

tracks;

1 Gbebe mi
– Olupese
– Ma kuku sise
– Oluwa ni mo gbojule
2 To ba nwa i re
– Ibi ai ye feni de
– O dowo oluwa
– Kai ye ma bere pe olorun mi da

A thousand thanks! I have this album and I’m thrilled that you have posted it.
It’s really as good as your description.
I also have ‘The Only Condition To Save Nigeria’ and long for the day, if you have it, of you posting it. It’s one of my all time favourite Obey Albums.
    Great stuff.

I’d love to handle a request, that is , if I know for who I’m doing it. Dear visitor, could you please leave a name if you comment ? That would feel totally different…and then, who knows..

This is one of the best albums I’ve heard on here — it’s beautifully recorded, and the musicians settle into a groove that patiently wanders from place to place. Just fantastic.

Anyway, just wanted to tell you how much I love this album and how much I love this blog, without asking you to post anything. Please keep it up; for many people, this is the only way to hear such amazing music as this.

This is real juju funkified. My oh my, this is great, especially, the second track. I like this juju with the funky back-beat. I think Mr. Obey tried to emulate the success of Sunny Ade with Aura. I am not sure which was recorded first but I love this hybrid.

    Thanks a lot, Moss.
