Roy Chicago
What’s up groovers ? I’ll tell you what. It’s Roy Chicago
and Victor Uwaifo. Last saturday I was pleasantly surprised
to meet with one of the French guys I used to see at the
Utrecht recordfair twice a year. He gave me a call and came

for this unexpected visit. Remi brought with him a couple of
LP’s from Haïti and some West African EP’s. They changed
of owner that evening and today, on this 25th of december, they
find their way to you groovers. I ripped the EP’s for you to begin

Have you heard of C.K. Mann ? He works together with
Kofi Yankson and the All Masters on this album. Another
big name is Ebo Taylor who was responsible for the
arrangements on ‘Wommaa Yensuo Mu’, #4 of side one.
I am not sure if he performs on this album as well but
there’s a good chance. Get it and spread it ! ..thnx..tracks;

Fellow groovers goodmorning, ever since the GG started
in may 2008, we haven’t been working in such a slow pace.
The reason of course is the current situation in which I am
affraid to loose the content I’ve been working on so long.
Some of the dear blogs of colleague bloggers have just
dissappeared and it would be a real shame if that happened.
I am working on a new site but it takes quite some time to
realize. Meanwhile we keep posting stuff using the very
acceptable service of Zippyshare,
hang on, we’ll get there..Today I ripped an lp by a group of which we had three lp’s
so far. A real treat of Ghanaian highlife made by one of the
style’s masters; Leo Nana Agyeman and his Opambuo Inter-
national Band of Ghana. The others are temporarily unavailable
due to dead links but as I told you, it’s all gonna come back.
For now, enjoy this fine work and hang on in there, cheers.tracks;

Ultra laid back West African minimal sound by Mike Ejeagha & his Trio.
Mike Ejeagha is a folklore musician from Enugu State, Nigeria. He
had his first hit in 1960, his tracks are little story’s accompanied by
guitar and drums. All compositions are his own and the lyrics are
in Igbo language. This is an album from 1984, it’s volume two and
follows up volume one. It concerns a story about the
fearful animal Aneke Otulukpa. Read the
above lines if you like, click on it,
enjoy.tracks;

Moses Kwaku Oppong, the leader of Kakaiku’s Guitar Band,
was born in 1916 in Acra. He quitt elementary school aged
fourteen just to be able to play his guitar. The Nigerian tenant
that worked at his parent’s house used to shout at him; ‘Kai ku’
meaning; ‘look here’ or ‘hi Kwaku’, this became his nickname.
He worked as blacksmith, winch greaser and driver of engines
at Aboso Gold Mines and played his guitar at parties, wake-
keepings and funerals. He named his band after his childhood
nickname and made over 500 records, an enormous amount.
Listen to this ‘Adadam Paa Nie, vol. 2, with it’s funny cover.
( …if anyone could explain this sleeve illustration..? )
P.S. soundquality is a bit poor, unfortunately…
volume one is heretracks;

Have you ever seen this before ? The woman on the frontcover
of this lp is the producer who arranged this lp to be released on
Makossa records. Quite extraordinary and modest not to place
your own picture on the sleeve. Nana Ampadu I is such a modest
person. He dedicated this album to Miss Comfort Boateng ( above ).
I think this is one of their better albums, I am fond of the bass
parts by Guy Emmanuel Opah. Get it now and listen to
the African Brothers Band International, sweeet…tracks;
1 Mede wo ka a
2 Ase ye do wo
3 Woyoo woyoo

Not so long ago I told you it was getting harder all the
time, finding their albums. I think I should say things like
that a bit more often. Straight away I got lucky and stumbled
upon another lp, and not the least I would say. It’s from 1975
and it’s nice to find the tracks divided in eight seperate songs.
On most later albums the songs are way longer. If you use to
deejay sometimes, the shorter songs are much more accessible.
I am very happy to be able to bring this one, pure dynamite..tracks;
1 Nwa ada di nma
2 Onye si nani biri
3 Anam ele chi
4 Onwetarani nye ibe efe
5 Akwa uwa
6 Onye oma
7 Nwayi di ya bu eze
