Zaïko Langa-Langa was not only a group of musicians, they were also famous for the dances they initiated. Some of which became quite popular, like the 'cavacha' and the 'zekete-zekete'. On this 1989 album, the tracks on side-a are all melted together and will make you dance untill you drop. Jivin' hot material I'd say.[...]

Yesterday, the weather was absolutely perfect in the Netherlands. Being the worst summer since ever, I didn't have a choice. After that swell session in the Amsterdam Vondelpark some two months ago, this was the first and maybe last opportunity for me to try and repeat the happy happening. I picked the same spot and[...]

André Bimi Ombale Mwana Wabi, one of Zaïko Langa-Langa's main singers died last friday, april 29, in a hospital in Kinshasa. Bimi arrived in Tout Choc Zaiko Langa Langa band to its creation in the 70's as a drummer, and with his inimitable voice, emerged as a good songwriter beside Jossart Nyoka Longo, Evoloko Joker,[...]

It's a bit difficult to extract an album title from this LP cover, so full of information. The Big of Africa seems a quite appropriate name for this rare recording. Leading figure here was Pepe Félie Manuaku-Waku, with Djo Maly on bass, Bakunde Ilo Pablo on drums. Vocals by Evoloko Lay, Bozi-Benz, Chekedan & M'buta[...]

I recently found us a couple more albums in this great series. We had a few before and next in line is this volume 6. I can't imagine to find one bad LP among them, under Verckys' inspired direction only good stuff emerged. From 1978 this one by Orchestre Zaïko contains tracks written by Bimi[...]

My dear groovers, I am thrilled to present to you, one of the missing links at Bolingo's african discography, a find that makes me very happy. This is one of Congo's greatest bands, african 360.121, Orchestre Zaiko Langa Langa with two tracks of the hand of Teddy Sukami, one by Bimi Ombale and one by[...]

In the l'Afrique Danse Series on the 'african' label, tonight this one from 1978. It opens with a spoken part, I guess it's in Lingala. No idea what it's all about, can someone explain us ? Then Zaiko Langa Langa takes over sweet. Orchestre Viva la Musica's Papa Wemba invited his young friend Koffi Olomide[...]

Some LP covers don't give any information, others give you an overload, such as this one. Front and back give us plenty to read about this band. The only thing I miss is a year of release, do you know ? Offspring of the old Zaïko Langa Langa, this LP must be from the later[...]

Usually I would only remove names from covers and futher leave things as they are, on this one fixing was too disturbing so I left it. Another very sweet Zaiko Langa Langa LP from 1988 with the great voices of Bimi and Malage. Nothing can go wrong here, simply beautiful. tracks; 1 Sentiment Bimi -[...]
