Victor Uwaifo and his Titibitis – 5 Days a Week Love,african / Phonogram 1977

Victor Uwaifo, front, cd size

One of the funkiest, poppiest and most eclectic African artists
is without any doubt Victor Uwaifo. He used to have his own studio’s,
and art-house and was an allround artist. This LP which starts with
some reggaetunes and turns more African along the way is from 1977.
Victor Uwaifo’s guitar rocks as usual, check it yourself.

  1. Sounds great so far – I’m listening now. What does he do on the other two days? Cheers!

  3. Victor Uwaifo is still having his art-house. In fact he has a museum, about his life and the Nigerian and Edo state culture. I visited it last year and it is impressive!
I bought some records of him in Nigeria last year, but i didn’t have this one till now.

  7. Man. I’ve Loved the title track for years, but have never found the whole album….til Now!! thanks again for sharing your evergrowing pot of gold.
This and Jackpot may be my faves.
I had my friend model a fuzz and wah pedal after the one Victor uses on these albums.

  9. Oh my, that Poly Rythmo album, Bembeya’s Regard sur le passé, KK’s and now THIS, all in about a week… you really are spoiling us, you know? Thanks so much

  11. Thanks for this, used to have the LP when it came out, courtesy of Stern’s when it was still called Stern’s Radio.

If you can, be on the lookout for an Uwaifo disc that came out just before this. It had an orange-ish cover with a photo clearly taken from the same shoot as the Best of Uwaifo disc on this site. Different record, however. It had some pennywhistle and unusual rhythms. Unfortunately sold it (and this LP) when I changed countries.
