Celestine Ukwu Philosophers National -Ilo Abu Chi, Philips 1974

Celestine Ukwu, front

Good morning, after all that hustle about streaming or not
streaming, let me tell you this. I asked Mr.Scott politely to
give an honest answer to my question. I asked him; tell me
which of the lp’s posted here are in some way or another
causing a conflict with copyrights ? I want to cooperate
and remove every single lp that does. .First he refused to
answer me but kept sending comments to the GG. I told
him; “answer me or your comments will be blocked from
here. Again our nice Mr. Scott kept nagging about how
bad I am, sharing my old lp’s with you, my dear fiends.
He is no longer getting through here, end of story !

Shame that Stern’s label, which I always promoted for
their fantastic work is now contaminated with
Iain Scott’s nasty virus and
awful smell of money.
Shame..

tracks;

1 Elege
2 Ejina uwa nya isi
3 Obialu be onye abiagbunia
4 Okwukwe na nchekwube
5 Mma anyi egbuna anyi

Don’t let it bring you down
    It’s only castles burning,
    Find someone who’s turning
    And you will come around.

Just listen to those supporting your hard and wonderful work (and of course to this great, great music … )

    Thanks a lot!

One can only assume that Mr. Scott sees in these out-of-print relics some potential for future income. Those in the recording industry—even relatively minor players like Scott—want to be the stop-valve at the end of the pipeline, controlling the flow of sounds in a manner that can generate profits for very few, while eliminating access to the music for the world community.

With these profiteers casting themselves in opposition to the music lovers who gather here, the cast themselves in opposition to the music.

Moos, I am much relieved to find you persevering in the face of difficulty. I remain concerned for and grateful to Namua, Owl, and Bolingo. When I was doing a radio show, the blogosphere was invaluable in channeling awareness of unjustly obscure music and cultures to the general (buying) public. I feel real joy when viewing the wide ranging locations of those who share in your generosity. It’s tangible evidence of the growing global community which will allow us to survive heedless destruction and sectarian violence. Celestine Ukwu is also one of my all time favorite musicians. He and the Philosophers National brought a message of unity, reconciliation, and compassion for the plight of the common person. It’s impossible to share that too often.
    Thanks again for your work,
    John A.
