Dyke & the Blazers – the Funky Broadway, Original Sound Records 1967
I remember I discovered ‘Dyke & the Blazers’, back in the eighties
when I was going through my ‘Soulrevival’.
It was in a little old recordstore at the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam.
And it struck me !
Back in those days I bought me a re-release, later I found this
Original. Very groovy funky soul from 1967, a killer !
tracks;
1 Funky Broadway pt. 1
2 Funky Broadway pt. 2
3 UHH pt. 1
4 UHH pt. 2
5 Broadway combination
6 City dump
7 The wrong house
8 So sharp
9 Don’t bug me

THANKS! AWESOME!
“You’re very kind !” ?!
YOU are, sir! Thanks a lot!
All my respect to Mr. Pickett, but I always (when possible) go for the original – did the same with “Land of 1000 Dances”, went back to Chris Kenner via Cannibal & the Headhunters.
Read you next re-disco-vered gem,

Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for your Funky Broadway.
I’ve heard this original version of Dyke’s as well as Picket’s but never other songs of his.
This affords me perspective on Dyke’s other work.
It’s fantastic! Many thanks. You are now my favorite.
