Monguito – El Unico !
Toboga 1984

Monguito, front, cd size

We saw him before at Global Groove, on a Fania Salsa album with,
who else, Johnny Pacheco. This time a Roberto Torres production
on another New York Latin label, Toboga. Monguito is called
‘El Unico’ for the unique sound of his voice. Check out one
of my first idols in latin music; ‘Monguito, El Unico’.

tracks;

1 Cuña del mismo palo
2 Lo que tu quieres no puede ser
3 Chimbombo
4 Kaka nene
5 Que bella es
6 Curacao

    I love all the latin stuff you post. Last weeks Angelo y Su Conjunto is a gem. Keep up the good work. My favorite latin label is SAR in case you take requests.

    This lp’s cover was used for “Lo mejof de monguito vol.2” on SAR, but this is my first time listening to all the lp’s songs. Thanks! Great postings, great taste!

    Thanks for your posts, your blog is fantastic for all the latin, haitian, african & reggae LPs ! I also knew the cover of this LP for a ‘lo mejor de monguito’, which included a terrific version of MANICERO.
    Any chance to have Monguito’s version of Manicero posted ? I can’t find it anywhere !
