From Nigeria 1977 comes this album by Oliver de Coque.
The Rough Guide on World Music calls him a classic Highlifer.
I quote; “..the colourful de Coque occupies a unique position
in the highlife pantheon, syncretising classic Congo guitar
into laidback highlife rhythms.”

    Thanks. Just recently discovered de Coque’s music, though I had heard of him since the 1990’s. Guess I was too focused on the Osadebes and the 60’s highlife stars.

    Thanks so much for sharing this fantastic record. Almost instantly some of the greatest music I have ever heard. I can’t wait to hear the other two you’ve posted. The records are essentially impossible to buy.

    There are too many reissue cd’s to look at. I haven’t gotten my order yet, so I can’t comment on sound quality.

    wow!! pocas veces en mi vida habia escuchado estos ritmos, y ahora que he explorado mas en ellos..Great!! son sencillamente expectaculares…son las raices de los ritmos q de verdad tienen sentimiento y alma..GRACIAS, GRACIAS!!
