Oliver de Coque and his Expo ’76
Ogene Sound Super of Africa

When I find another Oliver de Coque I always get exited, if
it’s his exentric way of dressing, the covers are always great.
Or the uncomplicated highlife, interlarded with Congolese style
guitars, it thrills me playing this stuff time after time.
Listen to this gentleman, listen to Oliver de Coque !
tracks;
1 Anyi cholu uwa silili welele
– Ozo emezinam
2 Egwu bu ife chi nyelanyi
– Ngozi si naka ndi okenye abia

Thanks much. I knew of de Coque, but didn’t have any of his albums until your posts. I’ve since picked up a couple of his CDs (hard to find.
Thanks,

Thanks for all your great LP’s. I appreciate all of the new sounds to my ears.
Well, I just bought this online, decided to Google the title track– and came up with this! Good to know I didn’t screw up…. It’s sort of amazing how good this guy is, completely unbeknownst to anyone in this part of the world (other than your readers, that is). He’s up there with Franco or any of the Congolese guys, seems to me. Keep it coming, and thanks!

Very well said. Oliver de Coque’s guitar playing is beautiful and very reminicent of Congolese style. It definately adds to the Highlife.
Are there any other Highlife bands that add Congolese style guitar to the songs?
