Dr. K. Gyasi’s Noble Kings – the Highlife Boss,Essiebons Enterprises Ltd. 1975

Dr. K. Gyasi's Noble Kings, front, cd size

I am always thrilled to find any project on which the great ‘Eric Agyemang’
performs, I am a big fan of his guitarwork. If vocals are taken care of by
‘Thomas Frimpong’ and it concerns an LP of Dr. K. Gyasi’s Noble Kings,
my day is made completely. This is to my humble opinion the finest highlife
you can find. From Ghana’s 1975, sweet stuff.

tracks;

1 Nipa nfon kwa
2 Kokrohenko
3 Minnim
4 Mbre obesi biara
5 Mankra yie
6 Nkrabea
7 Akwantia ye musu
8 Nkogya nkogya
9 Nsem keka dooso
10 Obreguo ye ya
11 Adaka mu ye hye

    Dear Moos,

Your generosity, knowledge, and blogging efforts have had a huge impact on my life. Thank you for sharing and introducing me to such powerful music. My life is much richer as a result of your work. My private musical audiosphere promotes sanity and peace, and your collection has been my main inspiration for over a year.

I appreciate your kindness and dedication.

Well, I’ll jump in here and shout out – again – my HUGE appreciation for what you do. I check your site several times a day (!) Not just to see what incredible find you’ve posted but also as a hub for plenty of other superb blogs.
Sometimes, just looking at the sleeves is enough, just knowing that these beautiful artifacts even exist, just knowing that you are out there somewhere loving them.

Thanks, thanks and thanks again, Mr Moos!

I also tried to download it but it failed. Dr. K. Gyasi is one of my favourite highlife musicians, I love his sikyi-style. But it’s not all sikyi highlife here, listen to the 9th song, “Nsem keka dooso”, that’s a cover of one of the greatest hits of Verckys & l’ orchestre Veve ” Nakomitunaka”. The music is the same but the lyrics are different (not only the language, Twi, but also the content).

Hello! I’m sure I’ve left comments here and there, Mr. Nagging Wife, but I’m just as certain that a huge number of my downloads have been hit and run. Like many others, I check here several times a day. So, you obviously have fans worldwide, even if we keep it hid. I post at a friend’s blog, and it seems the general dl/thanks ratio runs from 50/1 to 100/1. Ungrateful, lazy bums, all of you!! Seriously, as someone who used to spend months sending letters overseas in negotiation for what I now get for a click, I thank all of blogdom, Global Groove, Oro and World Service among many. I can’t imagine all I would have missed without you guys being so astoundingly generous. A belated THANKS, and I’m sorry that you have to be a nagging wife, Mr. Nagging Wife, to get a little respect…

    Dear Moos,

I too would like to thank you for sharing so much great music with us. My knowledge of African music was basically limited to the three “Golden Afrique” sets (highly recommended BTW); but since I’ve discovered your blog (and through it many others), I’ve had to upgrade my hard disk to a 1TB one.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

You’re right to chastise those of us who’ve been downloading without getting it together to say thanks occasionally – I must turn over a new leaf! Anyway thanks for this one and for the super fast provision of an alternative link – the first one didn’t work for me either. Keep up the good work – you’re running one of the best music blogs around!

Oh man, I haven’t had the chance to check up with you lately, but now that I have, of course I’ve found tons of amazing music. I’m happy you’ve been given a hand in overcoming your momentary “blogger blues”, and I want to thank you for your blog and particularly for this album, one of the most beautiful I’ve heard in a while.

I don’t know if you take requests, but if you do… you got any 1970s K. Frimpong lying around?

Thanks a lot for your consistent generosity in any case.
