Fats Waller – Complete Recordings vol. 6( 1930-1935 ), RCA Victor 1973

Fats Waller, front, cd size

When I was a young boy, I listened to the music my parents used to play.
They were fond of old American jazz for instance and so I got to hear
this type of music. I guess it was the first contact with black music I had.
One of my heroes of those days is Fats Waller, being a viper today
I feel very familiar with his swing. The way he treats that old piano makes
me instantly happy. I’ve got a load of them jazz records and they itch.
Maybe it’s a good idea to do some more jazz. Yesterdays post, although
downloaded over 200 times, didn’t do what I expected. No single word.

tracks;

1 St. Louis blues
2 After you’ve gone
3 A porter’s lovesong to a chamber maid
4 I wish I were twins
5 I wish I were twins
6 Armful of sweetness
7 Georgia May
8 Then I’ll be tired of you
9 Believe it beloved
10 I’m growing fonder of you
11 If it isn’t love
12 Breakin’ the ice
13 I’m a hundred per cent for you
14 I’m a hundred per cent for you
15 Baby Brown
16 Night wind

I love that you’ll drop a Fats Waller into the mix. I’ll try to drop more words in the future.
While I don’t always download every post, I stop in once or twice a day to check what’s up, and the link updates.
    Keep it up!
Any more Malombo on the horizon?
    Thanks,
    John

My history is similar. Fats was my introduction to jazz at an early age.

Unfortunately I’m having a problem unpacking this .rar file. I get an error message halfway through.

Thanks for all the great music.

I’m afraid I’m one of the 200, sorry for not dropping a line or two. As for jazz, my father used to play the piano (he even had a jazz combo before my time); Waller, Garner, Peterson etc. Any jazz albums are welcome, of course. But don’t forget about your excellent African albums!

Not all have had parents who feed us with Jazz¡

The truth is that I went through hundreds of albums of Jazz and Blues until I found the original taste of Africa, which is the only thing that satisfies my hunger for music at all.

But of course good music always welcome.

    Fats Waller is always welcome.

And I’m very sorry about not leaving comments more often. The music you post is 99,9% of the time absolutely fantastic. I’ve been digging through your complete archive and there’s nothing but eye- and earopening goodness. Thank you so much.

and, shameless, I know, but here’s my own band’s take on Waller’s Viper Drag:
