i’m in El Paso, Texas and on the radio dial, most of our AM radio stations (and FM for that matter, but I never listen to FM) are broadcast from across the border in Juarez Mexico (which is a huge city, and just like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles has its nice areas and its bad areas, although the media would have you think even we here in El Paso are dodging bullets). Anyway, there is an oldies show which broadcasts for maybe 4 hours on the weekend, and one time the DJ was just going on & on about Abelardo Barroso and his huge influence, popularity, importance, deep meaning to the people, historical impact, encapsulation of the whole spirit of an era and principles of a generation, etc., etc. And then he dropped Bruca Manigua onto the platter and let it roll… As we say here: “ajua!!!!”
