Opambuo International Band of Ghana -Kiss Me and Smile,Rogers All Stars 1982

Opambuo, front

For this fine saturday I’ve got something a whole bunch of
you go crazy about. It is another lp by one of those Ghanaian
groups who recorded in Nigeria. Opambuo International Band
of Ghana brings us this typical sound. Ghanaian highlife with
a Nigerian sauce over it. Being a heretic I regret one title but I
just love the sound of it so it got through anyway. The album
is on Rogers All Stars and from 1982, guaranteed topnotch
production, it’s rare, it sounds beautiful, better take it quick.

I am sorry I didn’t re-up anything during the past few days,
just too damned busy to find the time, today I
did some 20 highlife albums though,
stay tuned and hang on…

tracks;

1 Kiss me and smile
2 Me kuta me korah
3 I pray to god
4 Maye maye anye yie
5 Mo mfa nye me

Great Moos, one of my favorites, muitíssimo obrigado! By any chance, wouldn’t have “I go die” by the same band? I agree in that I would prefer it without “capital Gs”, but this is fine music anyway. On the other hand, Carnaval has started (800k foreigners in Rio this year, they say) and it’s been a while since you’ve last posted anything Brazilian ;-)

well Moos, seems there is a similar album by this name & artist on itunes…the tracklisting is the same but doesnt have “mo mfa nye me” on it…rather has 2 additional tracks on it….dont know what the implications are but just wanted u to take note, it is however the ONLY album by Opambuo Internationals there so I guess others by the same group is very welcome…. anyway how about “I Go Die” if u have it?….

I am glad Akwaboah is happy with the stuff GG is putting up. I sometimes go to Akwaboah’s blogsite but he has the ‘habit’ of putting up just one song from an album. If enjoys GG so much, why not take a leaf and lets get the whole thing.

I hope Mr Akwaboah you are reading this

Esibo has made a very good point….akwaboa needs to take notes from GG….as much as he enjoys GG’s clean copies as he just admitted for this album, he should give us albums instead of singles so we can all share in the fun.
Osibisaba has also been inactive for a while….we miss his posts as well

To Anonymous. Education is not achieved by feeding someone snippets. I say Give Me All or Give Me Nothing. Akwaboah has hard to find music, some OP. Snippets don’t mean much (I’m sorry) if I cannot get the whole thing anywhere. I like his blog but eventually I got tired of going to the site ‘cos I wan’t going to enjoy the whole thing whoever hard I tried to find the whole album.

Hey Esibo, I don’t think this is the place to run this discussion, it would be more relevant for you to go to Akwaboa’s site and leave your complaints where they belong…
