Compas from Haïti comes if various forms. We know the easy
going twoubadou style as performed by Coupé Cloué and Rodrigue
Milien and Toto Necessité for instance. On the other had there
is the more orchestral variety played by big groups like Super Choucoune,
Meridionale des Cayes or Shoogar Combo to name
a few. Another very famous band is this one with ‘Les Frères
Déjean’. They belong to the most listened to. The four brothers,
Fred on sax, André on trumpet, Philippe on tambour and Camille
doing percussion brought their eight companions on their third
album which we have here today. High quality compas ..

Compas uit Haïti komt in diverse variaties. We kennen de easy
twoubadou stijl zoals die van bijvoorbeeld Coupé Cloué of Rodrigue
Milien en Toto Necessité. Aan de andere kant is er de meer orchestrale
vorm gespeeld door grote bands zoals bijvoorbeeld Super Choucoune,
Meridionale des Cayes of Shoogar Combo
om er maar een paar te noemen.
Een zeer bekende groep was ook deze met de broers Déjean.
Zij behoren tot de meest beluisterde. De vier broers, Fred op sax, André
op trompet, Philippe op tambour and Camille op percussie brachten
acht kameraden mee op hun derde plaat welke we hier hebben.
