Kilola Salaïka & Orchestre T.P. Poly-Rythmo
Djêkê…Small Small…C’est La Nouvelle Danse vol. 1
Editions Sodogil ESL 013
Good morning groovers, what have we got for you today ?
An album with Kilola Salaïka on which we could use some info.
This record was made in Côte d’Ivoire with Orchestre T.P. Poly-
Rythmo. I have seen Kilola Salaïka’s name as Amiral Kilola
Salaïka as a former member of Orchestre Lipua-Lipua in the
video below, and on Innovation vol. 8 with Nyboma & Bovi. I
can be wrong, but I think I hear him singing in Lingala. So,
is Kilola Salaïka Congolese ? He operated from Côte d’Ivoire
on Editions Sodogil. Can anyone shine a
light on this matter please .. ?
Dus, is Kilola Salaïka Congolees ? Hij opereerde vanuit Côte
d’Ivoire en op Editions Sodogil. Kan iemand deze kwestie
ophelderen alsjeblieft .. ?

Great stuff Moos. It IS the same Kilola. When Lipua Lipua lost Nyboma to his new band Kamale, some Lipua Lipua artists headed away from the highly-competitive KInshasa scene to find breathing space and local fame elsewhere: (“the fish go where there is water”) ..Vata Mombasa in Ivory Coast (following Sam Mangwana’s success) and Kilola in Benin and Ivory Coast. This LP was also picked up by Makossa label in USA https://www.discogs.com/release/5931787-Kilola-Voyager-NEst-Pas-La-Mort and he also appeared as backing singer for TP Audiorama in Ivory Coast, before Kilola joined the Paris syndrome in the 90s, recording a CD of his hits accompanied by Dally Kimoko https://www.discogs.com/release/15735006-Kilola-Salaika-Lettre-Anonyme
one and the same ,former tenor vocalist with Orch. Lipua Lipua [Kilola Salaika also known as Kilola toko, they were handling vocals together with the late Nzaya Nzayadio
Hi Moos,
Thanks for this great album. This is indeed Kilola Toko Diangani, the dude with a high-pitched voice that replaced Nyboma in Lipua Lipua after leaving to form Les Kamale.
Kilola is Congolese and this is after he had left Lipua Lipua to operate in Ivory Coast, pretty much the same way like his compatriot Vata Mombassa.
It’s rare to read a post like this, that shows the writer has common sense!
You definitely made me think! Thanks-I hadn’t thought of things
from that angle otherwise. Gonna share this…
