Dr. Orlando Owoh
and his Young Kenneries
Decca West Africa 1976

Hello, good morning, I had some requests for albums of
Dr. Orlando Owoh, yesterday it was for the album ‘Which
is Which’ and in the past a few times for ‘Igba Funfun Lere
Wa’. Both records are not present in my collection, I’m sorry.
I thought it would be nice though to post another of his records
instead. On this one from 1976 we hear Orlando play mostly
highlife, but at a couple of moments the sound turns in the
juju direction. I’ll file this under Juju Highlife. Enjoy ..

Hey goeiemorgen, ik kreeg wat verzoeken om platen van Dr.
Orlando Owoh te plaatsen. Gisteren voor ‘Which is Which’, en
veel eerder al voor ‘Igba Funfun Lere Wa’. Beide platen ontbreken
echter in mijn collectie, sorry. Het leek me daarom toepasselijk
een andere elpee van hem te brengen. Op deze uit 1976 speelt
Orlando voornamelijk highlife, maar af en toe loopt het enigszins
over in juju. Ik archiveer hem onder Juju Highlife. Luister ..

Thanks so much Moos, you have no idea how grateful I am. Both my parents were assasinated in 1977, i was only about 5 years old, my dad only played Orlando owoh records especially this particular album which we all dance to every sunday night including my mum. i only heard this song once after their death in 1990 on radio which brought back strong emotions. I searched all over Lagos for this record till i left Nigeria in 1998 but didn’t find it. After I discovered the internet, I search about 2-3 times yearly hoping someone would upload it one day before I die and now, here it is. You have no idea about the strong emotions and nostalgia you just evoked in me. I’m grateful! happy new year!

Of course I had no idea how happy this record would
make you. And by sending me this message you make
me very happy as well. This is exactly why the GG
is here. Finding music that give people something
back that they lost somehow. Enjoy every minute O.
      Happy New Year !
      btw
      I’m sorry I don’t have Ogun Pari ..
