Carlos Cezar e os Demônios da Garoa – É de Samba, Chantecler 1968

Carlos Cezar, front, cd size

This Samba LP is from 1968, now I didn’t buy this one then,
I was only 10. No this LP I found in Brazil some years ago.
It’s the group Adoniran Barbosa worked with for many years.
They know how to kick some samba-ass.
Carlos Cezar’s way of singing sounds a bit old fashon but
the samba is strong enough to pull it through to my opinion.
What do you think ?
Listen.

tracks;

1 Palhaço
2 Favela
3 A Lapa
4 Helena Helena
5 Meu consolo é você
6 Falta um zero no meu ordenado
7 Laurindo
8 Nao me diga Adeus
9 A corôa do rei
10 Praça onze
11 Cabelos brancos
12 O orvalho vem caindo

Hey Moos, Nice to see you throw an occasional Samba bone to some of us dogs out here. Since you know that my style of song-writing leans more towards the two to three minute mark, then I would say that it’s safe to say that some of the forms presented on your page will find very little appeal for this listener.
The African form is too varied to get a fix on the styles & the other Latin forms are an acquired taste, but I’m glad we agree on some of the Samba.

    Hey Justin,
You know I love a good samba like no other.
I wish it would be easier to find some good ones in the Netherlands.
We are waiting for November when it’s time for the biggest recordfair of Europe, close to my place in Utrecht.
I always have a ticket to check the fair on dealers day, before the public comes in.
In the mean time I got a few things waiting, but it’s slowly running out.
É bom te ouvir Seu Justin.

Hey Moos, Any chance of throwing up a listening station on the sidebar or perhaps a way to hear a favorite track from an LP? Take a look at the MP3 player I attached to my Samba Showdowns. It might help me discover a few more things on your page. OK?

If you know of any Cubans who are writing shorter compositions like the Brasilians do, then please let me know of those artists.

Do they not know how to write a 2 minute song in Africa? “Soul Makousa” was a hit because of a radio edit. Hint, hint.
Perhaps as a DJ who understands the form, perhaps you could step in & westernize this longer form for an audience who might enjoy this form, but in a more “RADIO FRIENDLY” way? Just an idea?
