Les Ambassadeurs – Dance Music from West Africa
Rounder Records 1984

For the lovers of West African music here’s one by Les Ambassadeurs
with Salif Keita and Kante Manfila. I just read a funny story on the
backsleeve; Late 60’s, There was another Salif Keita who was famous
for being a national soccerplayer. He had the nickname “le Domingo”,
and was also from Mali. As an ode to the great soccerplayer,
Salif Keita the musician took up the same nickname, le Domingo.
He changed the famous Railband for Les Ambassadeurs in 1975.
Listen to Les Ambassadeurs.

tracks;

1 Mana mana
2 Sidiki
3 Marfa
4 Primpin
5 Wale

    I heard these songs years ago (back in the 90’s) on the radio, but never knew the album’s title. I bought about 4 or 5 Ambassadeurs and Rail Band compils, but these wonderful songs proved to be elusive. Thanks to you, I now know theri names.

    Thanks,

    Alexsam
