If I’m not mistaking, we find one of the last recordings of
Bembeya Jazz National with singer Aboubacar Demba Camara.
It is from 1973. Demba Camara died in a tragic car accident
April 5, 1973. I tried to find the recording date, but did not
succeed in it. If you know, please share your wisdom with us.
We find just the one track on the cd.

Als ik me niet vergis vinden we hier een van de laatste opnamen
van Bembeya Jazz national met zanger Aboubacar Demba Camara.
Hij is uit 1973. Demba Camara overleed na een dramatisch verkeers-
ongeluk op 5 April 1973. Ik heb geprobeerd de opname datum te
achterhalen, maar ben daar niet in geslaagd. Als jij het weet, wil
je dit dan met ons delen s.v.p.? Op deze cd staat slechts dit nummer.

In the series Editions Syliphone Conakry we had quite some
awesome records already. The one we find today is very hard
to find in its original pressing. That’s why we’re making an
Exception here and post a re-release from 2015. It was originally
from 1967. Great piece of 60’s mandingo, don’t miss ..

We hadden al best wat van die geweldige platen op het Editions
Syliphone Conakry label uit Guinée. Degene die we hier hebben
is echter in z’n originele uitgave uit 1967 slecht te vinden dus voor
één keer een uitzondering en plaatsen we een heruitgave uit 2015.
Heerlijk stuk zestiger jaren mandingo, niet missen ..

Hello groovers, what’s cooking for you today ?
We have another piece of mandingo from Guinée.
The Super Boiro Band was founded in 1959. On Discogs
the album is listed under Niaissa, the band’s trumpeteer.
It is from 1972 and has some hiss, not strange after 52
playing years. We saw a few of their songs on previous
posts of collectors on the great Editions Syliphone Conakry
label. Today our first entry of a career record of the group.

Goeiemorgen groevers, wat hebben we op het program
vandaag ? een plaat uit het west Afrikaanse Guinée. De
Super Boiro Band die werd opgericht in 1959. Op Discogs
staat ie onder Niaissa, de bands trompettist. Uit 1972 en
met enige ruis hier en daar, niet heel gek na 52 jaar op de
draaitafel. We zagen al enkele van hun nummers op wat
verzamel albums op het machtige Editions Syliphone
Conakry label. Vandaag onze eerste carrière plaat
van de groep. Down en deel als altijd ..

Jali Musa Jawara was a son of the same mother as another
kora player, Mory Kante. This cd is made with a small
ensemble. It has become one of the classic albums in the
style. Balafon by Jalimorijan Kuyateh. Jali Musa is originally
from Guinée but the music is typical for both the south of
Guinée and Mali, Mandingo. Wonderful vocal performances ..

Jali Musa Jawara was de zoon van dezelfde moeder als een
andere bekende kora speler, Mory Kante. Deze cd staat op
zijn naam, maar is in feite met een klein ensemble gemaakt.
Een kleine groep vrouwen die voor de prachtige vokalen zorgen
en ballafoon door Jalimorijan Kuyateh. Jali Musa komt uit Guinée,
de muziek is typisch voor het zuiden van Guinée en Mali, mandingo.

Isn’t that just wonderful ? A group of miners from the
Fria region in Guinea, who form a band in their free time.
Sombory de Fria or Sombory Jazz de Fria. One way or the
other, they could really play. A fine blend of Guinean and
Afro-Cuban style music. Get it and spread it ..

Dit vind ik nou zo’n mooi verhaal hè .. een groep mijnwerkers
uit de Fria regio in Guinée die in hun vrije tijd een band vormen.
Sombory de Fria of ook wel Sombory Jazz de Fria. En ze konden
behoorlijk spelen deze jongens. Een blend van Afro-Cubaanse
en Guineaanse muziek. Down, deel en luister weer ..

Okay, one more. When I put this elpee on the turntable
it was impossible to resist, I just had to post it. The opening
tunes are irresistible. This album is with Salif Keïta, Sambou
Diakité and Ousmane Kouyate and the rest of Les
Ambassadeurs. Get, spread and listen ..

Vooruit, nog eentje dan. Toen ik deze op de draaitafel legde
kon ik niet weerstaan hem te posten. De openings noten
zijn daar gewoon te mooi voor. Op deze plaat wordt Salif Keïta
vergezeld door Sambou Diakité en Ousmane Kouyate en
de rest van Les Ambassadeurs. Luister zelf ..
