Although this album didn’t bring him the international
breakthrough he had hoped for, ‘Cool Ruler’ became a
Gregory Isaacs classic later and is considered one of his
very best. The king of lover’s rock made some unforget-
table records of which we already had several. Gregory
died far too young, aged 59, of lung cancer. If we look
at Gregory’s life, the unfortunate cocaine abuse, I tend
to focus on his early successes. He truly
was one of the best.

het spijtige coke gebruik, focus ik het liefst op zijn vroege

Backed by the great Roots Radics and from 1982 we’ve
got this superb record with the late master singer Gregory
Isaacs. We had us some of his albums but there are still
