I suppose many French people went on a sunny holyday
in one of their oversees colonies during the 60’s & 70’s.
Disques Célini and sub-label Aux Ondes released a number
of albums named Boum Vacances or Holiday surprise party.
We had a few on earlier occasions and today we’ve got
another one for you. It is a record with various artists,
happy holyday music from the 60’s & 70’s ..I veronderstel dat veel Fransen een zonnige vakantie door-

Lekker hoor ..One of the most prominent groups in Guadeloupe of the
seventies and eighties was Typical Combo. Their biguine
and cadence rampa rocked like no other’s. From their early
years and with singer Daniel Dimba we find this 1976 album
on Disques DebS. Enjoy listening ..Discogs

A colossal succes this album was called in the liner notes of yesterday’s
post. This is Super Combo from Guadeloupe. Trumpeteer Elie Bianay
is the man who wrote all the songs on this album. We also find an Abidos
with Super Combo. Is it the same person as Hiver Abidos from Typical Combo?
If you know please tell us. Singer Ryco is also present on this
record. Another pearl from the West Indies ..Een colossaal succes werd deze plaat genoemd in de liner notes
van de gisteren geplaatste elpee. Dit is Super Combo uit Guadeloupe.
Trompettist Elie Bianay is de man die alle nummers schreef. We vinden
ook een Abidos bij Super Combo. Zou dit dezelfde zijn als Hiver Abidos
van Typical Combo? Wie het weet mag het zeggen. Zanger Ryco is hier
ook van de partij. Een pareltje uit de West Indies ..tracks ;

bijeen van o.a.
dit mooie album op Disques Debs..On our everlasting musical voyage of discovery, today we arrive on the
island of Guadeloupe once again. In fact Guadeloupe exists of two islands,
Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre. The biguine and cadence-rempa from there
would have pulled me towards Guadeloupe in those days if I was old enough.
This album is from 1976, I was 18 then and knew nothing about
biguine or cadence. What do we have here ? Ryco was the singer of Super Combo. (there was
also a Super Combo de Nemours Jean-Baptiste from Haïti but that was another
group) He brought together a bunch of musicians from bands like Super Combo,
Les Aiglons, Typical Combo, Maxel’s and more for the opportunity. They made
this album in 1976 under the name Combo Supérieur. We find Daniel Dimba for
instance of whom we also had an album before. Ryco sounds like Ryco Jazz but
doesn’t have anything to do with it. I’ll get back on the topic, for now let’s
listen to this nice record on Disques Debs..tracks ;

02 – Telle mère telle fille
03 – A si marche
04 – Cocotte minute
05 – Machand’ cann’ machand’ coco
06 – On n’homm’ maye vle fiance

“The incredible succes obtained in the Carribean by first 2 volumes
entitled ‘Immortal West Indian Songs’ appealed DebS Recordings
to undertake issue of a third volume.Alike the previous ones, this 33 R.P.M., is a real tribute to fun; most
of its works take their main sources in the dusty files of old days.
Several songs will remind our grandmothers of their love affairs…The best among the west indian production of artists, Paul Blamar,
who is performing a tremendous come-back. Henri Debs, Guy Alcin-
dor are highly supported by Emilien Antile, Alain Jean-Marie, they
are strolling across our islands looking for souvenirs left by our
ancestors. Our artists take good fun in returning some of the inheritance they
received, through their works they sing happiness of life on those
islands , where magnificence is found each step and where
inhabitants make your conquest with their courtesy. As a matter of fact, it is true that emotion, fun and enthusiasm give
to this ‘Musical Monument’ its real dimension. We may without misleading, predict to this record, tender and
sensual album, exuberant and wheedling, a tremendous succes
everywhere it will be listened to, and we imagine joy and pride
it will cause in Guadeloupe and Martinique, those beloved lands
to which one thing was missing: this original sound evocation.”

Good morning groovers, yesterday I received a writing from Robert
from Guadeloupe telling me that Hiver Abidos has passed away two
weeks ago. Quote; ” last saturday the band (Typical Présé Présé) play-
ed for his funeral in a crowded public garden in Basse-Terre and they
will also play this week end in Saint-Claude in memory of late Daniel
Dimbas who died a couple of years ago ..”. For this sad occasion let’s
have another album with Typical Combo and Hiver Abidos doing the
lead vocal parts. It is from 1984. A tribute, RIP Hiver.
is overleden. Quote; ” last saturday the band (Typical Présé Présé) play-
ed for his funeral in a crowded public garden in Basse-Terre and they
will also play this week end in Saint-Claude in memory of late Daniel

Yesterday, Holland Tunnel Dive posted a wonderful album with
Typical Combo. On that album from 1975 we find Georges Plonquitte
being the main vocalist. Very nice, thank you Jillem. We also hear
a shout out for more music of Typical Combo. I have five of their
albums but none of them have Georges Plonquitte as singer.
Mostly vocals are done by Hiver Abidos or Daniel Dimba.
Georgers Plonquitte and his sweet cadence we find on later
records with ‘Cie'(compagnie). On this record of Typical Combo,
from 1977, we find both Hiver Abidos and Daniel Dimba but also
Rodrigue. Plonquitte was singer until
somewhere in 1975 if I’m correct.
of Daniel Dimba.
als ik me niet vergis.tracks ;
