Grands Succes de l’Orchestre OK Jazz
african 1975 – 1977

Orchestre OK Jazz, front

What do you think ?

I can see, by checking download figures, that most visitors of this
page are interested in African music. Latin scores reasonably well,
but Samba, Calypso and reggae not so well. The reggae part now
takes place at my parallel page. It did not fit in this formula
very much. The other styles match quite well I think, What
do you think ?

Here we have an example of some of that sweet African music.
Franco never failed to score yet, he was and is a master
in his style. Le grand maitre they called him, and that is
absolutely justified.

tracks;

1 Matata ya muasi na mobali ekoki kosila te
2 Radio Trottoir
3 Oko rgretter ngai mama
4 Mace
5 Bandeko na ya mibali basundoli ngai
6 Moleka

    Wonderful music. And it sounds so good. There must have been some first rate engineers in Kinshasa. The unsung heroes of Congolese Rumba?

    I love the African stuff, but eclectic is always better than focused, in my book at least.

    Moos;

    Where you post (here or on the parallel page) is immaterial. With the new blog-watcher widgets and layout, it is very easy to see what is going on. I can drop in on GG and see what has been posted on most of my favorite blogs, and navigate around without having to tromp through bookmarks.

    Do whatever you need to do to make your life easier. I’m sure no one will be disappointed.

    Another vote for keeping the reggae, samba and calypso here! It all feeds into each other in one big diasporic stew…

    Thanks guys,
    If I look at numbers, sometimes I get insecure.
    Maybe I just better forget about the webstats and blog on.
    Thank you icastico, Avocado and Joe for supporting.

    I download the African stuff more, but that is because I can find the other styles elsewhere, and have a bit of a background in (although little). African I don’t know much about, and your blog is great for introducing styles and bands I would’ve never heard of if I didn’t come here.

    Having said that, upload whatever you want! We appreciate it no matter what.

    Hey Moos,

    Because you put so much wonderful stuff on here I have to pick what I might get the time to listen to & that’s probably gonna be the African & a bit of Latin. Would like to listen to it all but time is against me. It’s your blog, it’s a success. Do what you do best.

    Thanks

    J
