Docteur Nico & l’African Fiesta Sukisa
l’Afrique Danse No 9, african 1970

I can hardly express the feeling that came over me when I found
this LP. If you are going through big piles of records and then
suddenly Docteur Nico looks you in the face, that is a special
moment. I am very happy to share this fantastic album with you
today. Isn’t that a great picture, the doctor on his couch, a fresh
glass of cold beer waiting in the back. I can see him a few minutes
later, drinking his well deserved beer and playing a couple of them
singles. Who knows what the doc was listening to in 1970.
I know what we are listening to almost 40 years
later, Docteur Nico & l’African Fiesta Sukisa.

tracks;

1 Afrique de l’ouest
2 Asala malekoun
3 Ruguia
4 Lucifer
5 Adieu Freetown
6 Enchantion yapamba
7 Cherie Julie nalingaka
8 Bolingo ezali mpo na kisite

Excellent album, great sleeve picture! Dr. Nico playing pure highlife music in “Afrique de l’ouest” (West Africa).

Presumably he was listening to his own tunes as I think I recognise the Sukisa logo on those singles. Have really enjoyed many of your recent posts and good to see you revisiting Jamaica. Hope to find time to listen to Junior Byles later.

Thank you very much for this, and all of the other wonderful music you post. It’s a real pleasure knowing that any time I come here there will be a great post. I also appreciate that you take the time to include covers, good file names and full, accurate tags for the mp3s.

See? Everybody loves you after all. It just takes little naggin’. Warning, give ’em a little slack and they’ll be back to their same old routines in no time at all. Me included. THANKS for this one. Seems I’m getting quite a few of these L’Afrique Danse 360 discs. Good stuff!
