Mayaoula Mayoni – ‘le Grand’, Disc’Orient

So much great music at this moment I hardly know where to start.
Let’s go with Mayaoula Mayoni today, what an album. Both vocal
as instrumental sweetness, very original guitar rifs with plenty
of rough edges left. We can’t blame Disc’Orient for over-producing
this LP. Track #3, Nely maman, just blew me away, listen to the fresh
-ness of that rhythm-machine, I absolutely love it !
Probably released early to mid 80’s.

tracks;

1 Veya
2 Zebi
3 Nely maman
4 Potopoto-ville

this record is bangin’ out of my speakers! Absolute “fat” danceable beats! Have to use my headphones after 11pm before the neighbours start calling the police ;)

Sometimes it’s hard to recognize a track because I don’t understand the language. In that great #3 on this record however I hear the term ‘Potopotoville’ which is said to be the 4th track. Confusing, anybody who understands ?

You’re right. One face B the songs are listed in reverse order. Nice record. I had heard Veya and Nelly many times before but I did not know from which album they came.

Does anyone know who the singers are?
A while back I presented a program featuring Djo Mpoyi and I was looking for VEYA in my collection…I did not have it by the way…Can anyone confirm that it is indeed Djo Mpoyi on VEYA?
If so, who else sings on this album?

You seem to have a treasure trove of utterly amazing music that transcends genre, and throws one wonderful find after another through my iPod.
I humbly thank you for this wonderful music which I never expected to be able to hear.
