Zaiko Langa Langa, Viva la Musica & Orchestre Les Trois Freres
l’Afrique Danse 360117, african 1978

l'Afrique Danse 360117, front, cd size

In the l’Afrique Danse Series on the ‘african’ label, tonight
this one from 1978. It opens with a spoken part, I guess it’s
in Lingala. No idea what it’s all about, can someone explain us ?
Then Zaiko Langa Langa takes over sweet. Orchestre Viva la Musica’s
Papa Wemba invited his young friend Koffi Olomide and asked him to
compose for them. track #3 is one of Koffi’s first compositions.
Last but not least a track by Youlou Mabiala with Les Trois Freres.
african spoils us with yet another great compilation.

tracks;

1 Orchestre Zaiko Langa Langa – Mangobo
2 Orchestre Viva la Musica – Kalijogo
3 Orchestre Viva la Musica – Samba samba
4 Orchestre Les Trois Freres – Saley

    The spoken preamble to Mangobo almost sounds like the soundtrack to a sit-com. Mysterious…

    Mangobo was a Zairean comedian so I guess here he’s cracking some jokes about Zaiko LL at the beginning of the song.
