l’Infatigable Johnny Bokelo – Au Revoir 81, Vol. 1Shakara Music 1981
Lovers of Congolese music, here’s one for you. Johnny Bokelo
goes around quite some time. Somehow his music is good without
exeption, I liked all the albums I heard untill today. This 1981 LP
is not his first, Johnny started out in the sixties with Orchestre
Conga Succes, we saw a couple of songs on one of the l’Afrique
Danse series as Orchestre Conga Succes de Jean Bokelo.
Spread the word, Johnny Bokelo must be heard.
tracks;
1 M’bongo = l’argent
2 Ngai nakoku fa
3 Ngalulawa wa mama
4 Yayo nini yaya

Moos, this is really great! I’ve been hooked ever since you first posted an album by Johnny Bokelo and have been trying (in vain) to find more. This post totally makes my day! Thanks very much, Marc

@Moos: Merci pour la belle musique.
@wuod Kwach:
Jean Bokelo ranks up there with the best. With his hit “Tambola Na Mokili”, he won a permanent place in the Hall of Fame and in the hearts of all lovers of African music. Whether it’s right to describe him as “an unsung hero” is very much open to question. Indeed, Mbaraka Mwinshehe fittingly paid tribute to Jean Bokelo in the famous hit “Nisalimie Wana Zaire”. (time line 1:54 – 1:58).

Johnny Bokelo is always welcome. Thanks a lot!
I purchased two Bokelo CDs some years ago and I was thrilled immediately.
Did you know, Kanda Bongo Man is a nephew of Jean Bokelo?
