According to Gary Stewarts essential book “Rumba on the River” (Verso 2000), “L.M.Kiland” was the pseudonym used by producer Loukelo Menayame (a.k.a. Loukelo Samba) who signed Bopol in early 1980 for an album called “The Original Innovation” also known by its lead track “Deception Motema”. This was followed by 7 susequent volumes, using various musicians, starting with “Innovation Vol. 1”, with lead personnel and tracks as detailed in the comments section of your previous posting. Loukelo wrote many of the tunes in the series. I guess your albums are later re-releases. Wonderful music. Thankyou so much for posting.

Actually, of course on closer inspection, none of the titles on your lp’s match those on the “Innovations” lp’s so I guess they must be completly different releases, though they sound contemporary to them – maybe they were recorded slightly earlier, late 70’s perhaps?

Thanks, Moos. I read that Nene Tchakou did some sessions with Mabatalai; anyone know for certain if he plays on this?

You are right, the rhythm section, propelled by the guitarist is amazing.

    Thanks, Moos.
