I dug up this afro-cuban piece of Benin-treasure in
some dark corner of my little recordroom. It is always
a surprise what to find. Sometimes I start to wander
about in halls and corridors and get lost in piles of dusty
boxes. On other occasions I my feet are grabbed by waves
of liquid vinyl and I’m drifting on clouds of smoking groove…
But serious, this is pure gold,..just love Papillon’s guitar..

Thanks Moos. I much prefer the African Cuban influenced records to the funk and disco. The latter usually don’t sound much different that the American originals and have become very dated. Also, some of the worst African records are the Afro funk/soul/disco recordings that are so much in vogue today.

I do agree with you so much. Nowadays it seems that major part of the world does not really like music. As soon as it gets a bit less accessible, it gets rejected. Only polished funky and afro-beatlike sounds seem to score, shame. Exactly this is the reason I run this page, thanks to the internet we are now able to reach the few people like yourself that DO have good taste, thanks for your support…

Just a few lines to say THANK YOU! I have started following your blog almost two years ago. I have discovered a lot of wonderful music thanks to you. Now I enjoy going to the second-hand african record shops here in Paris to look for the records I have heard from you. This one from le Poly-Rythmo is really amazing. I fully agree with you and Alexsam, there is something in this afro-cuban music that I cannot find anywhere else. It has the strange power to be sad and happy at the same time; according to your mood a song can make you cry or make you dance. It’s crazy.
