Rochereau – le Seigneur Rochereau a l’Olympia
african 360.028, 1971

Rochereau, front

Le Seigneur Rochereau a l’Olympia, I’m not exactly sure
if this concerns a live recording. The applause, the exited
crowd has been mixed in between afterwords obviously.
The actual music thereby, does not sound so live to me.
I do not mean to say I don’t like the album though,
Rochereau’s songs and beautiful voice always
find a happy and satisfied listener in me.
Is it live or studio ? What do you think ?
In a studio with audience maybe..?

tracks;

1 Moussa
2 Moto akokana nzambe akosukisa
3 Assambela
4 Mystere
5 Nalembi
6 Fetiche
7 Paulina
8 Riverra

    Thank you for this album. I was missing it and thanks to you I now got it :-)

    If this album is made in an studio then they’r good to mix in the crowd applauding and echo. I guess this is an indoor consert. I can hear clearly echo in track 2.
    The applauding is continuing from the track 1 to track 2. This is not a review. Its only to say what I think about concert or studio.

    The album you have posted is one of two “Live at Olympia” albums released. These claimed to be recordings of his historic 1970 Paris shows , but were in fact studio albums with dubbed on applause.

    In 2007 a genuine live recording from the Olympia was issued by Syllart under the title L’Integral de L’Olympia. It is still available.

    @Moos:
    My namesake’s observation(above) is spot on. I remember finding the mp3 for L’Integral De Olympia here:
    Part1:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FW3Y3ZEX
    Part2:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BEXHNULP
    However, I wouldn’t bet that the recordings weren’t “re-edited” so many years after 1970.

    Sad to hear this news. Where will we find another? Tabu Ley Rochereau leaves a legacy, an era of wonderful music which in a big way he helped create. Sacrée génération! <br />Thanks for your continued devotion to sharing great music.<br />mamboPete

    Thanks for the sad news.<br /><br />For me, Tabu Ley was the gateway artist into Congolese pop. A great talent.
