Tabu Ley et l’Afrisa International
Rochereau vol.5, Disco Stock 1982

Tabu Ley & l'Afrisa International, front

Good evening groovers, last week I stated that I would begin
uploading the GG from the very beginning and in chronological
order. You know how it works, once you’ve made a promise
like that, plans change immediately. So I did a bunch of my
compilations and also worked back from the present. I did
do the first 20 or so but it seems hard to get there. Post #1
was on may 6, 2008. It was Victor Olaiya in the Sixties.
Once you’re there, work your way up post by post..

What do we have new ? Okay, new is not exactly the word,
this one is from 1982 and a favourite. I always loved Rochereau’s
wonderful voice and sound, this here lp makes no exception.
On the Discostock label from Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
Just the thing for your fridaynight,
mellow yet passionate groove..

tracks;

1 Jalousie mal placé
2 On a raconté
3 Mela
4 Maika

hi moos, thank you for maintaining the ‘services’ that means so much to me! the stream of congolese music seems to be endless. and that’s fine!!! :)
do you also have some older congolese music from the likes of papa wendo, d’oliveira..?
additionally i’m looking for modern traditional music styles as played by Debonheur or Gd Maitre Makape et l’orch. Yamba Yamba Beto-Ba both posted by worldservice some time ago.

good luck with this new start!

    Hallo Moos,

Weet je zeker dat je bestanden nu wel veilig staan bij mediafire?
Bij mij zijn ze eergisteren voor de tweede keer door mediafire verwijderd.

    GG No.1!

Man thank you Moos. You are someone who understands great music. I see you doing your best to post great music. I apperciate you Moos for your time. I apperciate your imput in this African global music. Don’t worry Moos, if you feel you need to talk to me then email me at GrandMaitreGiantafrique@gmail.com. I will always be nice to you.

Now you put something greater. Mr. Tabu Ley. Thank you for putting some classic music of Tabu Ley. Tabu Ley was the poetic doctor. He knew how to entertain and put on a great show. Tabu Ley had the greatest vocals that I have seen for a while. Tabu Ley was a perfect vocalist back in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Perfect. Tabu Ley.

Thank you for persevering in the face of recent events. I was regretting the fact that I never grabbed the two volumes of Hommage au Grand Kallé when they were available. Any chance you will repost them?

In my humble opinion this series of Tabu Ley LPs (well the 5 I have heard anyway) contain his finest work. The first side of this one is quite wonderful. Thank you as always.
If you got the time it would be great to have the Celi Bittsu-Matinda re-upped. Just heard great single on another blog (I’m sure you did to) & I’m wondering how I missed this one.
