le Prince Youlou Mabiala et l’Orchestre
Kamikaze Loningisa – Couper-Soucis
Otikali! Otikali!
Production Publi-Congo 1984

Youlou Mabiala, voorkant

Franco’s son in law is back this fine sunday. With his somewhat
hoarse sound of voice he managed to find a special place in my
heart. This album is from 1984, a year in which quite some tight
Congolese records were made. Couper-Soucis certainly does
not form an exception in that perspective and
finds itself in an excelent condition.

Thanks Moos for this album I listened to this album on Spotify and I was very happy with this album especially I recognized it has the same Rhythm with OK Jazz rhumba sebene from 1980 to 1982 I also noticed that there is another album by Kamikaze which is called M’bata recorded in the same studio in 1983.

Another thing I want to point out is Youlou’s back up vocalist Bola Bolithe if you listen to his voice it’s quite similar to Madilu System voice so you can see that Youlou Mabiala was a progressed musician who came from the OK Jazz background.

But then again thanks moos for this great album.

I found another album by Youlou from 1983 called ‘Judoka’, unfortunately
it has a strange dynamics problem. Sounding recorded too loud and disturbed..

Of course I haven’t forget about Judoka “Mbanda na nga azali Judoka” Kamikaze successful moments from 1980 to 1987 when Serge, Elba, Bolithe,Toupi and Pepito left the band and Youlou had no choice to recuirt vocalists Tapis, Paolo and Rossy rhythm guitarist Kalando, Drummer Massamba mexant and bassist who joined Victoria Eleison in 1997 Yves Tchum Tchum.

The band wasn’t successful in the late 80s to the early 90s, all I know they released a second version of Mon Avocat à Voyage but I don’t know if that was successful. In 1992 he released Keba Na Moniato my guess it was the last album of Kamikaze Loningisa but still in 92 he renuited with Josky and Elba and I think Serge was in the album not sure, with the album Dona Beija from 1994 to 1995 Kamikaze Loningisa was silent but Youlou was not silent as he made a album with Wuta Mayi and Ntesa and Michelino called 2eme Bureau released under the Sonodisc label also he contributed in Mose Fan Fan’s great album Hello Hello with Nyboma, Wuta Mayi, Syran and Bopol in 1995.

In 1995/96 he released his own album Mwana Ya Luambo [the child of Franco] whether he was backed up by Kamikaze or OK Jazz then after that he decided to restore OK Jazz with Bolithe,Toupi and Bebi Babo and they release Oléli Oléli meaning all the songs are composed by Youlou Mabiala and I’m still looking for that VHS Video, but anyway the album is recorded in Brazzaville with new recuirments such as guitarists Daniel 6000 who joined Zaïko Langa Langa in 1997 then after that the OK Jazz band releases La Releve without Youlou Mabiala.

Closing up Youlou Mabiala released Infraction in 1998 with a good sebene but in 1999/2000 he released Le Verdict my favourite album with tracks like Oleta, Kacha, Princesse Ada and Molengo he also does a tribute for Pépé Kallé you should listen to Le Verdict it’s a very good album.
