Disco les Vedettes Shaba présente
Empire Bakuba avec en Vedette
Papy Tex – Livre d’Or
Disco les Vedettes Shaba 1987

Empire Bakuba, voorkant

Meestal is Pépé Kallé de frontzanger bij Empire Bakuba
maar op deze plaat neemt Papy Tex het voortouw. Met zijn
mooie gladde stem een flink contrast met Pépé Kallé die
natuurlijk ook passeert. Lekkere dikke sebene in nummer
twee. Kortom, een schijf vinyl die je niet wilt missen.
Soukous van de bovenste plank, dansvloer
killer, pak hem snel..

Mostly Pépé Kallé is Empire Bakuba’s frontman but on
this record it is Papy Tex who takes the lead. With his
smooth voice quite a contrast with Pépé Kallé who
passes by as well of course. Nice fat sebene in
track # two, in short, an album you would not
want to miss. Soukous of premier classe,
dancefloor killer, get it and spread it..

titels ;

01 – Livre d’or
02 – Pebi ya pembe
03 – Litama
04 – Ce n’est pas ma faute

    To whoever is interested,

I choose to leave the bla bla to people who think they know it all.
Here at the GG it is all about listening to music instead of giving
you loads of information you can easily find on the web yourself.
If you think this is boring, why bother to come here at all.
I wish you lots of pleasure in listening and leave the
credits to the artists, no more, no less..

Music is only boring if you don’t open your heart, ears and mind. It may be “not interesting” (different to boring) but at least give yourself a chance to listen.

Anyway, I think this is good, especially for this late 80s music and Pepi ya Pembe has already had a couple of plays at a good volume!

Hi Moos didn’t have acces to internet for some weeks now. I do not understand all the fuzz, about this blog . it is actually one of the best. By the way this is my favourite Empire Bakuba album. I bought it in 1987 iin a small shop in Gallerie d’Ixelles. The shop was actually specialized in Latin music but could those days survive as Congolese people also used to buy latin music. I bought it together with the album ‘en accion’ from Marqua y su combo on discos fuentes. I lost both albums but was lucky enough to find the Bakuba one on CD. Marqua y su combo I never found back. Anyway that day in Matonge (Ixelles) when I discovered that small shop was one I will never forget. In Congo I had further developed my interest for Latin music (my father had a bit of bossa, chachacha, son and bolero) , music I thought I would never find in Belgium till that day. This was for me the starting point to collect latin music.
Keep up the good work. This site is priceless! Rik

Empire Bakuba will never disappoint. The most entertaining band Africa ever had. How I miss the musicians’ mucian Pepe Kalle. Gone a bit early.. I’m by now he would have floored all those pretenders!!! Class is permanent. Adious…
