E.B.V.A.P. présente
Essous et les Merry Guys
de l’Afrique aux Caraïbes
E.B.V.A.P. volume 2

essous-voorkant

Jean Serge Essous is the most international artist from
Congo if we believe Sylvain Bemba. This record must be
recorded somewhere in the Caraibbean, probably on
Martinique. On drums we hear Claude Vamur and
further we find Jerry Malerani, Martino Samba and
Toroma Thoms or les Merry Guys. I couldn’t find
anything on the web about this album. The fifth
track however we heard and seen before on the
equally titled album, use our search-bar
to find it..

The frost is hard outside but the sun is shining inside, with this already on its second play of the day. Sa malembe is the stand-out track for me in this great trans-Atlantic LP. Thanks Moos, and all the best for 2017.

I t was probably recorded in the Caribbean. Essous went there as a member of Ryco-Jazz in the 60s and 70s for extended stays.
