Ademilde Fonseca is the most famous singer of Choro, which is usually purely instrumental.
Fonseca’s popularity really came in the 40s, I guess singer to follow at the time was really Carmen Miranda who was even more more fast and loose with tradition than Fonseca (in daring to sing the Choro).
This album is from much later – most of the songs are from artists of a later generation who aren’t always known as Choro artists (Paulinho da Viola, Nelson Cavaquinho, Hermino Bello da Carvalho, Vinicius de Moraes, etc.).
