Lita Bembo et l’Orchestre Stukas Mombombo
Nkolo Kwanga
CID 783

Hello groovers, how are you today ? Me ? I’m just recovering
of Covid-19 myself. Managed to stay out of the wind for two years,
but one week ago it finally got me. This omikron variety feels like
having a serious cold, some muscle and back pain, but not too heavy.
Anyway, I’m glad it’s slowly leaving the body again ..
What have we got for you today ? Another album with Lita Bembo
and his Stukas Mombomba Orchestra. We have heard a lot of music
from Congo over the years, but Lita’s sound is something on its own.
He was a theatrical figure, his music was like Congolese Pop-Cavacha.
Quite contageous and very uplifting, listen ..

Hallo groevers, hoe is het ? met mij ? Gelukkig ben ik weer wat aan
het opknappen. Na twee jaar uit de wind te zijn gebleven heeft Covid-19
me vorige week toch te pakken gekregen.
Pop-Cavacha. Tamelijk aanstekelijk en verfrissend, luister ..

    Moos,

I hope that you have a speedy recovery with no lingering effects. Rest in Peace to Doug Paterson, whose contribution to African music is immense.

Moos, hope you recover completely soon! I’ve managed to avoid it so far but Omicron numbers are picking up in New Zealand. Stay safe!

Thanks so much! Anyone know a date / era on this one? Appears to be the same version as the Sono at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMK_PtIusv4 where the album cover says 76/77. Which may be the era where Bongo Wende (soon to move to Papa Wemba’s Viva La Musica) was the lead guitarist? Though I could be at a stretch here.

Wishing you a speedy and full recovery. Hope your taste buds are still fully functional (a common side effect) and your thirst for aural pleasure remains intact. As always thanks for the uplifting music which globally we can all use, particularly in light of the geopolitical situation in Europe at the moment. Just when the world emerges from a very destabilizing pandemic with a common enemy some nutcase megalomaniac decides to capitalize on that fatigue and make things far worse. I suppose he doesn’t care at all about his legacy and it’s blatantly obvious his cronies don’t give a damn for anybody but themselves. I’m not one to normally request anything but perhaps some Ukrainian folk music would be apropos.

Thank you for your thoughts Anonymous,
if I would have that type of music
it certainly would be appropriate ..

Thanks for another Lita Bembo Moos. Sorry to hear about your bout with COVID-19’s Omicron. At least you survived. Here in the US those of us who got the 2 vaccines and booster jab are waiting for another one in July.

Hope you are feeling better! Same thing happened to me recently, fine now but still not sure how it got me. Thanks as always for sharing all the great music. Hopefully we are getting to the end of this horrible time.
