When this lp came out in 1973 I was 15 years old and had no
idea of this music existing. I was listening to English and Ame-
rican popmusic, maybe some blues.. It took another five years
before the first African, Caribbean and South American music
came through to us. Fortunately we are looking at a much
broader spectrum of sounds and styles nowadays, the world
wide web is a huge support in that perspective. Listen to this
wonderful slice of Guinée vinyl, which is in great condition,
even after 41 years. It’s got some pops though in the middle of
track #3 and at the end of track #6, a small pressing error.
In this series we already had the 1970 and the 1973 versions.
Check them out, spectacular releases one by one..tracks;

If I am not mistaking, my French is not that good, Syliphone Records
made this compilation to please thousands of happy Guinéean radio
listeners. The tracks on side-a of this lp, 1 till 5, have all been tophits
at the various national radiostations in 1970. Tracks 6 and 7 are extra’s
making a compliment to the young instrumentalists that play authentic
melodies and rhythms in modern interpretations. I am sorry track 6 has
some hiss in the background, you must realise it is over 40 yrs. old.
Nevertheless, happy listening to yall, get it before it’s gone..tracks;

Hello groovers, slowly rebooting I’m squeezing
one out for ya. Not full speed yet, hang on…From 1975, this collector with at least 5 authentic
Guineean tracks. Wonderful music by superb musicians.
What the .. could have been the idea behind Makeba’s
participation on this album. Commercial reasons I suspect.
Coincidentally track 3 has some bad snaps,
it wasn’t me …honestly…Enjoy this nice music.

Although old and not at all in mint condition, this is an LP
I keep playing. It contains only 7 songs, and my stylus
jumps over a couple of holes in the road along the way.
Still, I have to put it on again,.. and again. I found a video at
Youtube that accompanies it very well. The last track from this
slice of vinyl,’Sara’, but not by Balla. Performed by le Syli-orchestre
at the first Festival Culturel Panafricain á Alger.
Thanks to Worldservice.tracks;
1 Bembeya Jazz National – Alalake
2 Balla & ses Balladins – Limania
3 Kélétigui et ses Tambourinis – Toubaka
4 Bembeya Jazz National – Boiro

7 Balla & ses Balladins – Sara “70”Posted by Moosat 9:11 PM - Thursday April 22, 2010
From 1977 we have this LP of Bembeya Jazz National. It is a
re-release from the 1969 album. In 1972 it was already subject
of a second release. Such relaxed atmosphere here, I love that
mellow Mandingo mood. Only two tracks on this album and it’s
their first appearance at the GG. It was about time for another
post on the Syliphone Conakry label from la République de Guinée.tracks;
