The Guinée Syliphone label is very popular among collectors of
West-African music. On fairs you find these albums for prices
up to € 120,-. Crazy amounts of course, and by paying it, it
only gets worse. Here is one by Bala et ses Balladins and it is
a fantastic one. I don’t know about you but to my humble opinion,
they have reached their objective. This is just beautiful, my
favourite track, ‘Paulette’. What superb vocals, and that hornsection..

I had this one on the postingpile quite some time now
and it’s a good thing it finally found it’s way to you.
On the Syliphone label from Conakry, République de Guinée.
Mellow mandingo tunes but unfortunately with quite some cracks.

Here’s another 1980 Syliphone release, 22 Band.
Exept from the fact that it’s Guinean Mandingo, I know
nothing about this album. If anyone can fill us in here,
To find out more we depend on someone’s online expertise.
One thing I do know, very nice album.

From 1980 is this album by le Nimba de N’zerekore, Syliphone
brought out lots of albums by lots of bands in the 80’s.
I could find no information on this group but I can tell
you this is a fine LP. Singers with sweet voice combined
with guitar driven afrojazz in west african sauce.
Superb rhythms and a great hornsection.
