- Thursday September 4, 200815 comments on Jacob ‘Killer’ Miller – Wanted, Top Ranking 1978
The three fat men, Jacob Miller and the Lewis Brothers are here with
a piece of sentiment. ‘Wanted for singing Jah Jah’s song’.
What can I say, I really don’t know how much I’ve played
this here record, but it was a hell of a lot.
And I still love it, this LP is truly ‘Wanted’ for being a ‘Killer’.tracks;

Today’s Sunday is about Variety.
It’s so essential to have some, it keeps us sharp.
This LP is one of the first reggae-albums I bought in my life.
It’s from 1978, I was 20 in those days.
I always loved it and still do today, if you click on the backcover
you can easily see why, a huge personal favourite.tracks;

Another 1979 treasure, I was 21 years old and still lived in a single
12 square meter room. When I play this LP, I go back in time and see
myself in that room. Funny how music always associates with something.

On Hitbound, which I think is a great label, this is another old
personal favourite. Don Carlos, former member of the original
‘Black Uhuru’, comes in with his buddy ‘Gold’.
Take a look at this line-up and you see that you can’t miss
this one. The sweet voice of Don Carlos persuades one and all.tracks;

Before the shooting of this photosession, U-Roy stuffed his ‘chalice’
with some Lambsbread Collie. Eric Tello shot some great pics here,
don’t you think ?, Love this cover. Recorded at Joe Gibbs’ and
backed by The Soul Syndicate and Skin, Flesh & Bones Band,
this is a fantastic reggae album,

Now here’s one of my alltime Jamaican heroes, “Tappa Zukie”.
His records shook me when I first heard them early 80’s.
And then he came to ‘Paradiso’, Amsterdam, me and my friends went
totally nuts that night.
The forthflowing bass, and Tappa’s sweet voice, I still LOVE this.

This ‘best of’ is not a ‘best of’ as I see it. It sounds more like a
one-session recording then like a collector. Tracks 2 and 3 are
written by ‘Alton Ellis’ if I’m not mistaking. Backed by ‘the
Revolutionairies’, ‘Gregory Isaacs’, with his voice
like sugar and glue, comes in with a great LP.
Recorded at Channel One Studio.
