- Sunday November 9, 20081 comment on Chief Ebenezer Obey – Je Ka Jo, Virgin 1983
I was in the mood for some Juju tonight so I decided to rip us
this sweet album by Chief Ebenezer Obey. Being an English release,
I have the feeling it is adapted to European standards a bit, the
songs are shorter and have pauses in between. Still, nothing can go
wrong, Juju is simply sweet. I find it irresistible.tracks;
1 Miliki
2 Ojeje
3 Je ka jo
4 Don’t say no
5 Abente
6 Poto poto

Being a blogger you keep learning things all the time.
Today we found out that very long titles sometimes frustrate
the process. I now understand why I was unable to rip this LP
before. It has all titles at the A-side glued together and at
the B-side, same story. So I wrote all titles in a row but
Winamp-Pro that I use to rip with, could also not handle this.
Now I found out what caused it I can finally post this LP.Here’s another great album of Juju music from Nigeria.
Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey & his Inter-Reformers Band,
( Africans don’t like short names ) comes in at Global Groove.
Track 1 contains 6 songs in one, track 2 same thing, enjoy this.

From Nigeria here’s another fine piece of Juju, ‘King Sunny Ade’
is back with a smile. How do you like his new dresses ?
On the previous Sunny Ade rip I made the mistake to add skips
manually, I did not make that mistake again.
The first side of the album aswell as the second are like
one big track, I thaught I’d better leave it that way.tracks;
1 Osupa mi tole – Bi ko seni akii gbon – Ibi lero siwa – Ota ile pada lehin mi

From Nigeria we have here, King Sunny Adé and his African Beats,
this is Juju music, a laydback smooth type of African music with hummingtalkingdrums, steeley guitars and mellow voices. It’s incredible to hear
18 people play like ONE, beautiful. Ajoo was also released in a European
cut which is very different from this African release. One sidenote; The first
3 numbers are melted together as if they are one, it was very difficult to
cut it into 3 numbers, considering the fact I don’t understand a word they
sing here, I am SURE I cut them completely wrong, please forgive me.tracks;
1 Ajo ni mo re
2 Pegan pegan
3 Oluwa lagboju le
4 Gbeyo gbeyo
5 Penkele
