Ruts DC – Rhythm Collision, Bohemian Records 1982
To have us a little variety, I thought some dub wouldn’t
hurt. Early 80’s, when we were listening to loads of reggae,
this LP came out and dublovers as we were, it scored enormously.
I am still thrilled to hear it after all those years.
Engineered by Mad Professor, Dub along groovers.
tracks;
1 Whatever we do
2 Militant
3 Push yourself-Make it work
4 Rhythm collision
5 Accusation
6 Pleasures of the dance
7 Weak heart dub
8 Love and fire

Not what I expected from Mad Professor but it was back in the day. Don’t get me wrong, still the man but with a funkier edge than normal. Thanks for this

Thankyou so very, very much for this – have been trying to get hold of it for years! Am still listening to The Ruts over 30 years since i first heard them. This is the direction they were heading till Malcolm Owen the lead singer died (check out ‘Jah War’ and ‘Sus’)…the rest of the band carried on the flame.
Much Respect to you moos. Great site (pity bout Greensleeves – but nice one for using Mediafire, and not RS!) Best wishes & vibes to you man!

nearly six years later and the link is still working! many thanks for keeping the post alive. Ruts DC were definitely the exception to the rule that when the most visible member dies (I always have that Au Pairs track line in my head about “Malcolm is dead” whenever I think about his death) – the band becomes a pale shadow of its former self.
In many ways, this is a visionary album, in the way it anticipates many of the dub/drum & bass/dubstep experiments carried out in the early nineties and beyond, though it never gets the credit it deserves as it does not fit easily into any single genre.
