Teddy Sukami de Zaïko Langa Langa
& Benj chantent Wina
Eddy’Son Consortium Mondial 1977

teddy-sukami-benj-front

Een klein krasje aan het begin maar wat een lekker plaatje dit.
op Eddy’Son Consortium Mondial komt deze van twee Zaïko
Langa Langa jongens, Teddy Sukami en Benj. Niet te versmaden
Congolese sound. Dat hadden we net nodig..

Just what we needed today, a small scratch at the beginning
but what a nice record. Two Zaïko Langa Langa guys, Teddy
Sukami and Benj. On Eddy’Son Consortium Mondial, what
can I say..better get it and spread it straight away..

tracks ;

01 – Bambutaye baleke
02 – Wina 1 & 2
03 – Mote ma
04 – Je t’adore kapia

Thanks for this post about Congolese music. I am still looking for the self-titled LP that Bopol did in 1988 on the Blue Caraïbes / Syllart label. It has the tracks Mukarame, Cheri Coco, Cele from what I remember, Tizéré and Zouzoupale from Ernesto Djédjé, and any other LPs from François Lougan and any other African artists worth posting.

Thanks, Moos! Much obliged for this, leading into the weekend. Good time to kick back and enjoy some Choc Stars in their pre- days.

God, this clip is gorgeous. Just gorgeous. I just spent a couple of years living in Kinshasa and my life and psyche were transformed by this glorious music.

I really appreciate the time and love you put into this site, Moos. It makes some of the finest achievements of human culture available to us.

By the way, just before I left (and just before bringing flowers to Pepe Kalle’s grave), I got to see the modern iteration of OK Jazz at Le Grand Maitre’s “Un-Deux-Trois” club. It’s not the best quality clip, but it could have been a lot worse and it captures the insane energy that still emanates from the Great Ones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-AZ75Rxkys

Thank you for the first Ben Nyamabo album. The correct year is 1980.
