Miguel Durán y su Conjunto
Remando… Remando…
Victoria 1973

It’s about time again to think of our Colombian listeners.
They are second on the list of countries that deliver the
most Global Groove visitors. Cumbia, vallenato, salsa and
tropical are the styles most listened to by my hungry ears
and speaking of vallenato, Miguel Durán is one of the
favourites on my list. This is his 1973 album that comes
first on Discogs, not sure if it is in fact his first record. Still
on the lookout for the album which contains ‘India Matea’
which we know from the Fiesta Vallenata collector. A quick
count shows I’ve got 18 Miguel Durán records, with only
five posted we still have a bunch in the waiting room.
Juanito, Antonio, Carlos, José, Javier, but also Henk,
this one is dedicated to you guys .. and you Ian,
is this music for your hungry ears as well ?

    Hi moos

Thanks Moos. Though I might be a pain in the ass again, but GLOBAL Grooves means from ALL over the world, not just Africa and South America. Yes, we have a few USA/UK items too, but most of Eastern Europe, Asia, and Australia is missing. To be GLOBAL, in my opinion, you should have at least ONE album from each country listed on here. You know I`m a huge fan of African music, in particular benga, but I would like to widen my horizon with styles that I haven`t heard before yet. All the best, Pete

      Dear Pete,
Absolutely true, I should do posts from more countries worldwide.
The thing is Pete, I want to use vinyl and as few as possible cd’s.
From Australia or Asian countries I hardly own any elpees. Of course I can
make posts with cd’s, I have some interesting stuff on the shelf.
I could also use files that I have downloaded myself, but that is
really not the idea of this blog. I shall do a few posts from cd
but maybe not as much as you would like. I hope you understand ..
Cheers Pete and thank you for the feed back ..

I do not like CD`s that much, I prefer vinyl too because you won`t find them that often anymore while CD`s might still be available nowadays. Having said that, everything “new” is fine to me. And … your blog is amazing, except of one or two albums I`ve downloaded all of them :) All the best, Pete
