Part One of the Master Guitarist series. We had volume 4

From Bahia, we jump back across the ocean to West Africa
where originally most of Bahia’s inhabitant’s ancesters came from.
It has indeed been some time since we had us some of this
sweet Nigerian sound. Miliki Sound is what Chief Ebenezer
called it in 1973. Nowadays it goes for juju. One way or the
other, mellow but still funky, enjoy Chief Ebenezer Obey &
his International Brothers.tracks;

In 1984 Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe was rewarded for the
outstanding achievement with the sales of over 750.000 albums
on Polydor label and in appreciation of his immense contribution
to the progress of Polygram Records Ltd. in Nigeria.
He was the first Nigerian artist to receive at a single time 3 awards,
2 gold discs and one platinum. It was for ‘Agbalu Aka no ani’ and
‘Onu Kwulunjo Okwue Mma’. What they did not know yet then,
is that ‘Osondi Owendi’ would become the most sold out highlife
album ever. At least, that’s what the rumour says. One way or
the other, it sure is a tremendous album, listen and judge yourself.tracks;
1 Osondo owendi

Mike Ejeagha’s highlife is just what we need on a quiet
sunday afternoon. The rhythm is so mellow, it almost brings
one in a kind of trance, going on and on, hypnotising 1983
West African minimal sound.tracks;

An album a day keeps the doctor away. It becomes like a
kind of therapy after a while. Not posting is no option, it
feels like my day is not complete and leaves a big hole.
So first I pick an LP, I record and rip it and then I need to
make a solid picture of front and back-cover. Okay, all done.
But next after uploading the files I must write a few lines.
Anything useful to say about the album? Chief Stephen Osita
Osadebe’s albums are always good, no doubt. The most important
is listening to them. So I wont keep you up any longer, get it and
play it. ..oh, and screw my writing,…..it sucks..tracks;
1 Agadi nwanyi na inine
2 Morning Star Social ClubPosted by Moosat 7:48 PMCategories

First LP by this artist on this page. We had one track on
the collector ‘African Music’ some time ago but that’s it.
About time to give Rex Lawson some deserved attention.
12 short tracks of which 7 to 12 can be a bit false. B-side
wasn’t centered right unfortunately. Still, I think it’s worth
a couple of spins, I enjoyed it a lot again while recording.
Mellow kind of Nigerian highlife, listen.tracks;

3 Ene bate
4 So ala te mem
5 Love mu adure

Celestine Ukwu started his career in the 60’s under Mike Ejeagha.
Early 70’s he started with the Philosophers National. He was soft
spoken and gentle and his music was more laid back than other
Igbo Highlife. The band was truly philosophical as their songs dealt
with social evils and the need for peace. Tragically Celestine Ukwu
died in a car crash in 1979, not yet 40 years old.
( info – muzikfan.com )tracks;

It’s incredibly strong, the power of music, once you’ve
put up this album, there ain’t no stoppin’ anymore.
You’ll start listening quietly and then..when the rhythm
takes of, …you’re gone…move it like you’ve never done before.
Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe and his Nigerian
Sound Makers International rock the floor…tracks;
