- Sunday December 7, 200810 comments on the Fantastic Pambou Tchicaya Tchico & his Waka Waka Band of Nigeria – Josintha, Namaco 1978
These guys don’t like short names, ‘the Fantastic Pambou Tchicaya
Tchico & his Waka Waka Band of Nigeria’, quite a mouthful.
On the other hand, in this case I think they can afford it.
What a fantastic album this is indeed, to my opinion the
best Tchico on this page untill now.
” aon aon aon ”tracks;
1 Mamy Rosa
2 Agatha – Agathy
3 Josintha, a Nigerian girl
4 Business before pleasurePosted by Moosat 2:58 PMCategories

“If Sunny Ade carries the flag for Juju and Fela’s Afrobeat
will, in time become a global source sound, then the late
Prince Nico will forever be Igbo Highlife.” ( Rough Guide )
Always sharp looking Prince Nico Mbarga rocks once more !tracks;
1 Family movement
2 Home is home
3 Le pere de notre pays

The album presented tonight was reguested by one of our visitors.
Prince Nico Mbarga was luckily married, as you can hear in track
one of this LP. Who knows another African artist with a Mercedes
almost like this one ?tracks;
1 Lucky marriage
2 Nnwa di mma
3 Welcome

Second LP by the great Oliver de Coque at this page is this one.
The title is more or less the same but this one is from 1977.
First side contains two tracks although they appear to be one. I
didn’t try to devide them, chanceless if I would.
Don’t you just love that outfit ?tracks;
1 Oje mba ewilo / Odi ili eri aku special
2 The tragedy journey of two friends
3 Oma obi diaPosted by Moosat 10:16 PMCategories

To continue the Tchico Tchicaya story, here’s the second one
with this Victory-picture of Tchico. On the record-fair of this
weekend I found even a fourth. Thumbs up again ’cause it’s
just as nice as the previous one. Enjoy Pambou Tchicaya Tchico.tracks;
1 Sango sango
2 Vicky Amie ya Rosie
3 From Congo to Nigeria
– de Brazzaville a Lagos

From Nigeria 1977 comes this album by Oliver de Coque.
The Rough Guide on World Music calls him a classic Highlifer.
I quote; “..the colourful de Coque occupies a unique position
in the highlife pantheon, syncretising classic Congo guitar
into laidback highlife rhythms.”tracks;
1 Ten commandments
2 Igwe bu ike
3 Anazo eze azo ?

Another score from the Recordfair, Juju at it’s best.
Because the artists have melted all songs together, I could
only devide it in two, A-side and B-side.
to know about this album, click on the backsleeve

From ’79, our friend Tchico is back.
This is one of the three LP’s I’ve got with the same covers.
Maybe it was hard to get a photographer, either way, it’s a
record worth playing, listen!tracks;
1 Alexandra – Nwurai
2 l’Heure a sonne
3 Reviens ChouchouPosted by Moosat 10:53 PM - Tuesday November 18, 2008
After his huge succes in 1976 with ‘Sweet Mother’, Prince Nico
Mbarga had become indestructible throughout most West African
countrys. I found this LP together with two others, also from ’81.
Family Movement and Lucky Marriage, I’ll post those later.
Poppy kind of Highlife from Nigeria.tracks;
1 Cool money
2 Another woman’s husband
3 Impossible
4 Afufu uwaPosted by Moosat 10:04 PMCategories

I was in the mood for some Juju tonight so I decided to rip us
this sweet album by Chief Ebenezer Obey. Being an English release,
I have the feeling it is adapted to European standards a bit, the
songs are shorter and have pauses in between. Still, nothing can go
wrong, Juju is simply sweet. I find it irresistible.tracks;
1 Miliki
2 Ojeje
3 Je ka jo
4 Don’t say no
5 Abente
6 Poto poto
7 Paga
8 Alo miPosted by Moosat 10:40 PM
