I don’t know the line-up used for the recording of the
record, I do know I’m especially fond of the firm rhythms
here. This elpee once again contains ‘Gota Fria’, original
by Emiliano Zuleta and also on two of his other albums
we had. He clearly liked the song a lot. I do too. A record
not to miss for vallenato lovers ..
Vandaag een ‘oldie but goldie’ met Colacho mendoza.
De line-up op deze plaat is mij onbekend , maar ik weet wel
dat de percussie hier stevig los gaat, lekker. De elpee bevat
wederom het nummer ‘Gota Fria’, origineel van Emiliano Zuleta
en tevens op twee van Colacho’s andere albums. Duidelijk een
favoriet van hem. Ik hoor het ook graag. Liefhebbers van
vallenato, mis deze niet ..

On Brobisco House of Music we find this album with Asiakwa
Brass Band. In january 2012 we already had one of their albums,
it was received with big enthusiasm back then. Brass Band highlife
from Ghana is the type of music that makes you instantly
happy. On this record the group pays tribute to Alex
Konadu with the ‘Agyata Wuo’ and ‘Nsuo Amuna’
medley’s. Rare Ghanaian stuff ..
Op Brobisco House of Music vinden we deze plaat met Asiakwa
Brass Band. We hadden in januari 2012 al een van hun elpees.
Deze werd toen met veel enthousiasme ontvangen. Brass band
highlife is het type muziek dat je onmiddelijk blij maakt. Op dit album
speelt de groep een eerbetuiging aan Alex Konadu met de
´Agyata Wuo’ en ‘Nsuo Amona’ medley’s.

at Afro Soul Descarga in 2012. I took the liberty to freshen up the

For all the diehard listening through noisy records I reward
you today with a solid highlife album. This one plays just fine.
Rim Akandoh worked with a bunch of groups before starting
his own. First it was Ahamano’s Band of which he was the
drummer and singer. He next joined Kakaiku’s No.2 Band as
a vocalist. After a short while he formed K.K’s No.2 Band
with A.K. Yeboah and Kwasi Manu. Finally with the help of
A.K. Badu, director and chairman of Ambassador Records
It came true, forming his Prince Sparrows Band. Listen ..
Voor iedereen die zich dapper heeft geweerd, luisterend
naar krakende oude platen, vandaag een beloning. Rim
Akandoh werkte met verschillende bands voordat hij zijn
eigen groep kon vormen. Eerst was het Ahamano’s Band
waarin hij de drummer en zanger was. Vervolgens sloot
hij zich aan bij kakaiku’s No.2 Band als vocalist. Na een
korte periode daar vormde Rim K.K’s No.2 Band met A.K.
Yeboah en Kwasi Manu. Uiteindelijk kreeg hij de kans,

Every day it is a new puzzle. What to post ? Sometimes
we wake up with a plan, a certain tune that’s been haunting
me through the night. Sometimes also it is totally blanc. On
such a morning I tend to go through some piles of records,
always a few left and right. Today I stumbled upon this samba
record with ‘the Jaguar’s Breath’, Bafo da Onça. It is a Carnaval
group from Rio de Janeiro. This samba album knows two singers.
One is Osvaldo Nunes, we’ve seen him a few times. The other
singer is ‘Marly, a Onça Que Canta’, Marly, the Singing Jaguar.
Samba in carnaval style from 1976 ..
Elke dag is het weer een puzzel. Wat te posten ? Soms word
ik wakker met een plan, een zeker nummer wat de hele nacht
door het hoofd spookt. Soms ook is het nog helemaal open.
Op zo’n ochtend neig ik door wat stapeltjes platen te bladeren
die links en rechts geparkeerd staan. Vandaag valt de eer te
beurt aan deze samba plaat met ‘de Ademtocht van de Jaguar’.
Bafo da Onça. Een Carnavals club uit Rio de Janeiro. Dit samba
album kent twee zangers. de een is Osvaldo Nunes, we hadden
hem eerder te gast. De andere is ‘Marly, a Onça Que Canta’,
Marly, de Zingende Jaguar. Samba in carnaval stijl uit 1976 ..

I tell you straight, this must be one of, if not, the dustiest
and most crackly old record I have ever posted. It also has
the most worn out sleeve. It is an obscurity. Discogs knows
the band but not this album. Still, crackly or not, the music
is of interest and I didn’t want to withhold it from you.
So switch on your noise filter, listen through the
background (foreground-) noises and enjoy
the Kings Brothers of Kitwe anyway ..
P.S. sleeve and label give different names
to the songs, I’ll tell you both but use the
label version in the file ..
Ik zeg het je maar direct, dit moet zo’n beetje een van de,
als niet, meest krakerige platen zijn die ik ooit gebracht heb.
Hij heeft tevens een zeer gehavende hoes. Het is een tamelijke
obscuriteit. Discogs kent de band wel, maar dit album niet. Hoe
dan ook, krakerig of niet, de muziek is van een interessant gehalte
en ik wilde hem je niet weerhouden. Dus zet je ruisfilter aan,
luister door de achter- of voorgrond geluiden heen
en vermaak je met the Kings Brothers of Kitwe ..
P.S. hoes en label geven verschillende
titels van de songs, ik geef ze je beiden,
maar gebruik de label versie in de file ..
