- Friday September 12, 200826 comments on L’Orchestre National ‘A’ de la Républiquedu Mali, Musicaphon 1970
Just after becoming independent in 1970, Mali’s young musicians
started to form a National Orchestra. Since there were much more
good players than needed, they formed A, B and C orchestras.
This was the first of them all, lead by multi-instrumentalist
‘Kélétigui Diabate’. On his West African travels he learned to play
guitar, trumpet, flute, saxophone and counter-bass. He plays the
guitar on this LP. We heard tracks 3 and 5 on the Mali Collector
some time ago already, now here’s also the rest of the only album
ever recorded by this group.tracks;
1 Malamini
2 Taara
3 Janfa
4 Son t’aw la
5 Duga
6 Saakoba
7 Nonsi komotigi
8 CiwaaraPosted by Moosat 8:27 PMCategories

For the lovers of Senegalese Mbalax, here’s the latest

The music is modern and fresh, the singing of Omar Pene,
as sweet as always.tracks;

Today my fellow Groovers, it’s rainy and grey and I really can’t
seem to think of a theme for the sunday. So with an open mind
I ripped this reggae album for you. It’s an Errol Thompson
production, which I always like. Lui Lepke comes in with this
nice album from 1981, to me this is nostalgia.tracks;

If I look back on approximately 35 years of collecting records,
there was a certain period for every style. During the 80’s for
instance I had a few years, I searched for West-African music,
more than other styles. In those years I bought a lot of nice
gems, such like this one.I can’t seem to find much information about this LP.
The backcover doesn’t tell a lot, neither does the Web.
Soundiata is probably sung by Mory Kanté, if you can tell
us more, please do !
Another crazy thing, the LP has 5 songs but cover and label
just know 4 songs !? What’s going on here ?tracks;
1 Soundiata
2 Mali tebaga mogoma
3 Maki
4 Armée Malienne
5 Mystery trackPosted by Moosat 8:36 PM - Thursday September 4, 2008
The three fat men, Jacob Miller and the Lewis Brothers are here with
a piece of sentiment. ‘Wanted for singing Jah Jah’s song’.
What can I say, I really don’t know how much I’ve played
this here record, but it was a hell of a lot.
And I still love it, this LP is truly ‘Wanted’ for being a ‘Killer’.tracks;
1 Silver & gold
2 I’ve got the handle
3 Standing firm
4 Healing of the nation
5 Wanted
6 Sinners
7 Ital light
8 Peace treaty special
