Editions Syliphone Conakry 1971
Uit 1971 stamt deze elpee op Editions Syliphone de Conakry.
Drie van de zangers hier gepresenteerd zijn afkomstig uit Guinée.
De vierde is Myriam Makeba die in Guiné woonde met haar toen-
malige echtgenoot Stokely Carmichael. Ze treedt hier wel op met
Quintette Guineen. Desondanks vallen haar twee songs wat uit de
toon. Kortom, zes goede en twee iets minder goede nummers.
From 1971 comes this album on Editions Syliphone Conakry.
Three out of the four singers presented are indeed from Guinée.
The fourth is Myriam Makeba who used to live in Guinée in those
days with her husband Stokely Carmichael. She does appear with
Quitette Guineen. In spite of this her two songs do not match with
the rest of the record. In short, six good and two less good songs.

The Ikenga Super Stars of Africa, led by Vincent Okoroego, a former
member of Steven Osita Osadebe’s Nigeria Sound Makers were a
leading Igbo “guitar highlife” group of the seventies and eighties in

Haïti Record 1971
It was somewhere in 2008 that our French friend Arnaud told
me about compas from Haïti. Until then I hadn’t heard of it.
In the mean time we are 11 years further in time and I col-
lected hundreds of compas records. This is the fifth album
by les Shleu Shleu from 1971 called 6èeme Anniversaire.
Still very grateful Arnaud, are you still following us ? One
way or the other, hope you’re good. We had a few of their
records over the years, see below for them ..
Het moet halverwege 2008 geweest zijn dat onze Franse
blogvriend Arnaud me introduceerde, tot die tijd had ik nog
nooit van compas uit Haïti gehoord. Ondertussen zijn we 11 jaar
verder en heb ik honderden compas platen verzameld, heerlijk
spul. Dit is de vijfde van les Shleu Shleu genaamd 6ème Anniver-
saire. Nog steeds zeer dankbaar Arnaud, volg je ons nog ? Hoe
dan ook, ik hoop dat het je goed gaat. We hadden reeds enkele

Weinig Colombiaanse platen gepost de laatste twee maanden.
Daar gaan we weer eens wat aan doen. Om te beginnen heb ik
hier een verzameling Tropical de Colombia en vallenato in ge-
varieerde stijl. Twaalf songs door vier verschillende artiesten.
Prettige verzameling nummers met veel variatie, pompo, pa-
seaito, paseo, guaracha, cumbia, merengue en gaita. Op het
tropical label waarschijnlijk uit de vroege
jaren zeventig. Luister en deel ..

Angola Ano 1 Liberdade, cda 1975
Eentje uit Angola’s 1975 is deze met Carlos Lamartine en zijn Conjunto
Merengue. Zij brengen een relaxte vorm van semba, twaalf mellow songs
op ‘Angola Ano 1’. De elpee vertelt het verhaal rond de strijd om onafhan-
kelijkheid. Angola ano 1, Angola jaar 1, alsof de jaartelling opnieuw begon
in 1975. De onafhankelijkheid was een feit maar de onrust duurde door.
Het klinkt cru maar narigheid brengt vaak de mooiste muziek voort ..
Today we have this album from 1975 with Carlos Lamartine and his
Conjunto Merengue. They bring this very relaxed type of semba, twelve
mellow songs on ‘Angola Ano 1’. The record tells the story of the struggle
for independence. Angola ano 1, Angola year 1, the beginning of a new era
in 1975. Independence was a fact but unfortunately instability remained for

Have you ever heard of Playback Singing ? Mukesh Chand Mathur,
or in short just Mukesh was one of the most famous playback singers
in the Bollywood Indian Movie industry. It means he recorded the songs
and the actor would playback, or lip-sync the song on camera. Mukesh
himself never appeared on screen. On this EMI / Odeon release we find
14 songs used in 14 different movies. The songs were written by various
composers like, Salil Chowdhury , Shankar Jaikishan , Hansraj Bahal,
Naushad, Madan Mohan , Ravi , Roshan, Ram Ganguli and S.D. Burman .

Uit 1979 komt deze elpee van La Sonora Dinamita met de
legendarische Lucho Argain. Zijn volledige naam was Luis
Gullermo Perez Cedron. Soms kortweg Luis Perez, maar
meestal werd hij Lucho Argain genoemd. De groep heeft
een reeks verschillende zangers en zangeressen gehad
waarvan Luis Perez de meest toonaangevende was. Ze
begonnen in 1960 met het album ‘Ritmo!’. Als we afgaan
op de discografie van Discogs is dit nr. 10 van 221 platen.
Ze maakten wereldberoemde cumbias zoals ‘Se Me Perdio
la Cadenita’ , ‘Ay Chave’ en het tevens op deze elpee
voorkomende ‘Maruja’. Luister zelf ..

the great Lucho Argain. His full name was Luis Guillermo
Perez Cedron. Sometimes just Luis Perez but mostly called
Lucho Argain. The group had a range of different singers,
both male and female of who Luis Perez was the most
influential. They started way back in 1960 with the album
‘Ritmo!’. If we look at their discography on Discogs, this was
number ten out of 221 records. They made some world famous
cumbias like ‘Se Me Perdio la Cadenita’, ‘Ay Chave’ and the

Boy Dap was called King for playing and singing his Tumba and Sehu
in his own style. His records sold in Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Colombia,

We openden de Apala, Fuji & Waka thema week met apala,
via fuji, waka, en weer fuji eindigen we vandaag weer met
apala. Haruna Ishola was met Ayinla Omowura de belangrijk-
ste apala ster. Hij maakte wel zo’n honderd platen waarvan
